petert531 Posted July 18, 2006 Share #1 Posted July 18, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) To further my claim that I am a headshot specialist I am posting some recent work. This was a pretty inexperienced model. The first look was more or less a disaster. With some more flattering lighting and a few posing suggestions I did manage to get this out of her. It won't set the world on fire, but is it good serviceable material? I can't tell because I generally am unhappy with my own work. Peter

andybarton Posted July 18, 2006 Share #3 Posted July 18, 2006 Do you have one with a little bit of light in the eyes? They are too much in shadow for my taste.
graham_mitchell Posted July 18, 2006 Share #4 Posted July 18, 2006 A agree with Andy. It's all pretty decent but the eyes are too hidden, and I have a feeling they are worth seeing
petert531 Posted July 18, 2006 Author Share #5 Posted July 18, 2006 You find the eyes dark (there is a lot of rim light of course) or you just miss the catch light? Hmm.. I used top down and back lighting and tried to keep the spill on the background to a mininum -hence no catch light. I used to obsess (I think I still do) about the catchlight. andybarton Posted July 18, 2006 Share #6 Posted July 18, 2006 There's a catch light on her left eye, but no life in the right one.
stuny Posted July 18, 2006 Share #7 Posted July 18, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Peter - Generally, I like it a lot, largely because you've caught some of her attitude, which seems strong but not too offensive. I too think there should be just a touch more light around the eyes -- post processing? Many years ago I did model portfolios for two young women, neither of whom were experienced. The bright one was a pleasure to work with and I got everything we needed in 1 1/2 rolls of 135 x 36. The model of average intelligence took seven rolls, and was just barely there. arthury Posted July 19, 2006 Share #8 Posted July 19, 2006 A little soft but a beautiful model, though.
robert_parker Posted July 19, 2006 Share #9 Posted July 19, 2006 Peter Other than the hair, there's a real 1960's feel to the shot, even down to the knot in the tie - I like it - I'm another one who's not sure what I think about the lighting on the left eye, though.
