leicamann Posted March 29, 2012 Share #4  Posted March 29, 2012 Thank you so much, Stuart !Just a bit of "The Doug Herr Approach" influence   Well you might want to consider a 400mm or 560mm... they are still relatively easy to get and not too expensive.    Cheers, JRM

marc_dufour Posted March 31, 2012 Author Share #7 Â Posted March 31, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you so much, Iduna ! I like the picture as it is, with the sea envolving the bird and locating it in its context. But I also should like to get a closest approach, something like this one, to get its character (100% scale factor crop)
pauledell Posted April 1, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted April 1, 2012 Marc, Â A lovely picture with the colors, composition and clarity. Quite an excellent mood from seeing this and hearing the crash of the waves against the rocks. I would say that the 100% crop of the second picture holds up well enough as it is that you must as yourself, Do I really need to spend the money and weight of that lens when result like this are available with what you already have? marc_dufour Posted April 1, 2012 Author Share #9 Â Posted April 1, 2012 Paul, Â Thanks a lot for your so kind appreciation. The question you raise is the one I do myself, since a lot of time ! - Because of the money matter, the Modular system or the Apo-Telyt 280/4 are from another galaxy in my case - The 280/2.8 is cheaper, but so heavy... So I'm afraid the only lens affordable for me would be the 350/4.8 wich would give a closer approach. Although in the cormoran picture, the crop is more or less equivalent to a 1200 lens ! So, I'm afraid I'm still considering for a long time Thanks again !
