240sx Posted March 26, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 26, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hey everyone, I realize this might be a localized question but I recall a few members in the forum are from Toronto. I was just wondering where you all get your film developed, colour at least, and which would be best. I am currently going to blacks but I fear I am being overcharged and not receiving quality scans...at least not the best. Any input would help, Thanks! Advertisement Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Hi 240sx, Take a look here Best lab to develop colour film in Toronto?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Joachim123 Posted March 26, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 26, 2012 I used to use Silvanos however, they recently closed. Here is a link to another lab: Northern Artists ProLab
maurometallo Posted March 27, 2012 Share #3 Posted March 27, 2012 No affiliation, but I warmly suggest Downtown Camera on Queen St. As for quality, they'll pretty much meet any expectation... I don't know about their processing prices, though... I deal with B/W only and I do it myself; but they are serious professionals, well equipped and stocked. firststream Posted March 27, 2012 Share #4 Posted March 27, 2012 Probably the best is Toronto Imaging Works, owned by Edward Burtynsky at 80 Spadina. As Mauro stated, Downtown Camera develops. See George. I also like Ruby at Elpro, 3 Elm St. I live in Caledon, and get colour negatives developed at my local Walmart. I scan at home; I always thought the better quality scans were outrageously priced. Good luck!
240sx Posted March 27, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted March 27, 2012 Interesting, I was unaware that Downtown Camera developed, I have bought film from there before for decent prices. Does anyone have any experiences there? Also, any other suggestions or labs that people prefer? Thanks!
norbertnl Posted August 23, 2012 Share #6 Posted August 23, 2012 Another vote for Toronto Image Works, 80 Spadina Ave (TIW : Toronto Image Works : Home). I'm back from a sabbatical at U of T; enjoyed the quality of their work (in 4x5, that is). I did my own scanning at Gallery 44, 401 Richmond Street (Gallery 44). Being a member of that place you can use the Gallery's Imacon 949 for a very reasonable fee - a machine that put a continuous broad smile on my analogous face
