Has anyone sucessfully coded the bug eye version of this lens?

I have tried 35 2.0 ASPH and 35 2.0 IV codes. I have mounted the lens with camera off and on and with the preview lever held to the 35mm lens position.

The code position is accurate.

Suggestions?

Since the 35/2 with goggles keys the 50 mm frame, I don't think it will work with auto coding.

Moving the frame preview lever toward the lens engages a different set of contacts, but since you need to move it outward to reach the 35 mm position, the mechanical setting driven by the lens overrides.

That's my recollection of testing of the system Geoff H and I did previously in trying to uncover the functionality of the various lens + preview lever settings, but I don't have the lens in question to test it with.

What does the camera report with your attempts?

With a 35, you may be able to get by without coding.

I guess the is no way to trick the camera into seeing it properly.

I believe you are tripping over the Framelines component of lens coding. The 'code' the camera reads off the lens is 'checked' against the frameline the lens calls up and when there is a mismatch the firmware won't accept the coding of the lens.

This issue is, I believe, the reason the lens code tables available on the internet include a 'framelines' column.

But aside from missing the EXIF information, do you get any noticeable image problems? I wouldn't think so, with a 35/2.

Interesting. I don't think I had seen this question raised before with the M8.

Very slight. I am using the V4 and I loaned the RF to someone because he needed a 35.

If I had time to work with it my self, I could tell more.

I have done some photos with the 35mm frames engaged by hand and it makes no difference in recognizing the lens as coded.

He is on the wait list for a 35 ASPH which will solve the problem.

My V4 shows cyan corners so much that it is unacceptable to me. Hand coding fixed the issue.
