if i am shooting using a flash will a tripod provide any sharpness benefit or not really?

Not really. The flash is very brief.

It depends really on the contribution from the continuous light. This of course 'exposes' during all the time that the shutter is open, while the flash itself has a duration of from a few ten-thousands of a second to about 1/750 – the latter only in the case of very powerful flashes at full power, i.e. full flash duration.

So when the continuous light is negligible (say, 2 to 3 f-stops below the flash level) exposure is in practice from the flash alone. Flashing in bright light is problematic in any case because of the high minimum ISO (80) and the fairly long minimum flash sync speed of 1/180, and may require a ND filter.

In the past, some photogs have in fact used the 'sharpness with surrounding blur' caused by flash within a very slow shutter speed as a creative tool.

Stop worrying.
