Keith (M) Posted March 20, 2012 Share #1 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Took delivery of a new Elmarit-M 28mm ASPH this afternoon, so just had to run a quick test on my M9. Naturally I had read lots of reports and comments on the lens's capabilities before taking the plunge but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. A quick stroll around the local area during which my eye was caught by a new local planning application tied to a lamp-post, regarding further development of a new housing area. So, min focus distance of 0.7m, f8, 1/350sec, ISO 160 gave me this result. Â Looking forward to a few days at the coast next week and will put this absolutely delightful and oh so tiny beast to work...

Double Negative Posted March 20, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 20, 2012 Nice, congrats! Can't argue with IQ like that. Especially from such a remarkably tiny lens - it's a real beauty by any measure. It was a hard decision but I ended up splurging a little for the extra stop in speed of the Summicron, as I already have a suite of Color Skopars for ultimate portability. wda Posted March 20, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted March 20, 2012 It is an excellent lens, as you are discovering. I bought it for my M8 but use it more on my M9. Only yesterday I was exploring some views in my local church but need to return with a tripod for the shot I was after. Â My only criticism is that the focusing control is a shade too easy. I have to make it the last adjustment before shooting. Otherwise I can nudge it off-focus.
