dritz Posted March 19, 2012 Share #1 Posted March 19, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I hate the reversing hoods on the Mamiya 7. I am positive towards the reversing hoods on the S2. * Ample protection for the lens (from stray light and physical protection) * Impact absorbing (more so than metal hoods). * You can shoot with the hood attached (thanks to auto-focus). * Bayonet mount feels solid. Perhaps it's because the opinion has been so negative that I expected something awful. Instead, I'm totally satisfied with the situation. Advertisement Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Hi dritz, Take a look here In praise of S2 lens hoods. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
albertknappmd Posted March 20, 2012 Share #2 Posted March 20, 2012 My lens hood saved my 70mm f/2.5 in January 2011 while hiking in the Antarctic. I slipped and the camera fell lens hood first into snow and mud. The lens hood shattered but everything else was intact. I glued the hood back that evening with crazy glue and spent another week shooting thousands of files without a problem. The camera and lens were sent back to Solms as a precautionary measure when I returned home and were carefully inspected: No problems, no scratches... Brilliantly conceived lens hood!!! Albert :)
