Steve66 Posted March 24, 2012 Share #22 Posted March 24, 2012 Hi Chris, Looking at your 500px images i'll be interested in seeing your initial m8 shots (how they differ} and thoughts. Steve.
Omaroo Posted March 24, 2012 Author Share #23 Posted March 24, 2012 Thanks Steve - I'll get some up on 500px as soon as I have some worthy. I have to say that I'm finding quick focusing a challenge. I need to practise and nail this, in its various guises, before I stand there like a dork trying to focus as the subject walks away. LOL One point I'd like to clarify in reference to the New Zealand seller of this particular M8. He is a good friend of mine, and I think I upset him with the reference to postcodes in one of my earlier posts. I'd like to change the wording to: "I sent the sender two transposed digits in my postcode (2650 instead of 2560) and it upset the system so much that they can't find it." The inference is that I made the mistake, not he. The postal carrier should be better equipped to handle small errors like this, because I'll bet that they happen all the time. We'll use an international courier next time though. LOL There's talk of an M4 or M3 still....
Fredrikfw Posted March 31, 2012 Share #24 Posted March 31, 2012 Hello Chris, I have followed your thread. Funny how the postal system works. Btw I visited your photo site. Vert impressive. Thank you for posting the link. Looking forward to follow your voyage together with your new late arrived "partner". Tale care
Omaroo Posted April 1, 2012 Author Share #25 Posted April 1, 2012 Thanks Fredrik Hopefully I'll have the M4-P next week as well now, and it's coming with a Voigtlander 15 attached. This has prompted me to set up a darkroom at home. I haven't been in a darkroom since I was a kid, when my father was heavily into black and white. I really can't wait. Omaroo Posted April 5, 2012 Author Share #28 Posted April 5, 2012 Awesome... both now arrived. M8 with Summicron-C 40mm f/2 M4-P with Voigtlander 15mm Heliar f/4.5 ASPH The 4M-P is in sensational condition. The thing looks new. S/N 1621778 which puts it in the 1983 range. Pretty darned wonderful for a 30 year old camera. Happy chappy. 1280px version: http://www.photoz.org/leica/Leica_M8_4M-P-1280.jpg Welcome, dear visitor! andybarton Posted April 5, 2012 Share #29 Posted April 5, 2012 Very good! But I'm afraid that 1983 is more like 30 years ago...

Omaroo Posted April 5, 2012 Author Share #31 Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks Ivan and Andy. I can't wait to get out there this Easter weekend. I could only buy a few rolls of colour this afternoon. No-one around here has black and white film - of any sort. I'll have to wait until next week when I buy some bulk rolls. Anyway - the only stuff that I could lay my hands on this afternoon, in a town of 250,000 people, was Kodak UltraMax 400. Oh well - better than an empty camera!
