OK folks, looks like the 22nd suits slightly more than the median number; I'll attempt to book the Chambre studio for an early tour for six humans, (10:00?) and the we can stumble out blinking into the daylight to crack off some stunners before falling through the conveniently close doors of The Philharmonic pub. Unlike our soft Southern counterparts (one small glass of sweet sherry and I'm anybody's) I'm sure that we will soon be back on our feet and striding manfully towards the docklands to shoot even more memorable, nay, legendary masterpieces. At this point those unfortunates who have bought M8s will be comparing excuses for having shot bugger-all due to "firmware issues".

Breaking News: Rolo has just informed me that he is unlikely to be with us, due to a Priory engagement, however, he will be sending an associate who will have enough cash to get the beer in for the whole session. What a guy! ;)

OK folks, today I'm going to (hopefully) make the studio tour booking, the names in the frames are: Cocker, Stuns, Zany, The Lord Barton of Wirral, Rolo's imaginary friend and me, me, me.

Anyone know if we can get into the cathedrals on a Sunday without paying?

Cheers,

Pete (Mr).

Probably, but they send round a collection plate at the end...

They won't let you in if there's a service going on, if all you want to do is gawp. :)

Hi folks

Can I also join you in L/pool on the 22nd?

If I have posted too late to be part of the studio tour, no matter, I can loiter outside the studio and meet you there for the walk about once you have finished.

Falstaff ? Where U bin ? Chester, then nothing for years ? That's no way to treat an animal.

You can have my imaginary friends place on the tour. He informed Pete the Engine Driver that he'd been on the tour twice before, so he'll be loitering even though his National Truss card gets him in without paying.

Falstaff, not too late; turns out the office is only open Wed-Sun, so I can't book anyway 'til Wednesday! I'll book for eight, in case someone else pitches up; that means we'll be spread across two "tours" bu they are only 15 minutes apart.

Last time I went into an operational church, I finished up married; not been back to one since. :D

Sorry Rolo, but I’ve been busy loitering – but I emphasise, not with intent, otherwise they still bang you up.

Pity you will not be in l/pool, I was going to bring my 75cron for you to try. Another time…..

Mr Pete, as for churches, last Saturday I had to pay over £5 to step into Ely cathedral. Now I do not mind contributing something into the box, but I rather resent being charged to look at a building which Cromwell used to stable his horses.

I refuse to pay to go into any place of worship, although I might make an exception in the case of Jenning's Brewery. ;)

Shameless self publicity..... see comment from Dave and my response:

Bring your diaries to Liverpool.

I have booked us in on the Chambre-Hardman studio tour:

National Trust | 59 Rodney Street

as there are potentially eight of us and there is a limit of six in each group, I booked four on the 11:00 start and four on the 11:15. What puzzles me is: if the place opens at 10:00 and you must go on a guided tour, why is the first tour at 11:00?

The nice lady advised us to park at the Anglican Cathedral which, she said, is a 5-10 minute walk away. We need to be at the studio about 10 minutes before we go in, it's free to NT members but about a fiver otherwise.

Don't know about you guys but I always think the best light is before lunchtime, so I'll probably get there early and wazz off a few virtual rolls prior to the tour; then lunch at the Philharmonic, from where it could all go down hill rapidly. :D

Cheers,

Pete.

I hope you guys will take the opportunity to do the definitive shutter noise test, sneak in at the back, shoot the proceedings and see who gets thrown out first, Mp or M8 :p

Maybe with a group of photographers they need security which is available after the 1000am Mass. :D

Remember - you can't go dtraight in through the front door on Rodney Street. You get your ticket at the NT office in the back garden and then walk round to the front. Pain in the bum to got to the front, to go to the back, to return to the front.

Suggest you meet at the back door.

I know nuthing. :)

  • 4 weeks later...

Right............. looks like six of us. Meeting place is round the back of 59 Rodney St. about 10:45, or somewhere close, in time/space.

National Trust | 59 Rodney Street

We have four places on the 11:00 tour and four on the 11:15 so, if any forum lurkers want to join in, please do.

I'm planning to get into town somewhat earlier, so if you see a shuffling derelict toting a digicam, that will be me.

Lunch is on Lord Barton's account at the Phil:

BBC - Liverpool - In Pictures - Philharmonic Pub

I did think about organising some sort of photo-competition but in the end apathy overcame me and I just could not be arsed :(

Breaking News: Rolo (or his representative) will be selling autographs at some point during the day- this is your chance to walk in the footsteps of the master and pay due homage; or just pay. ;)

Messge ends.

I too will be there.

Regarding parking, the Anglican Cathedral was suggested but it strikes me that parking there for the duration of the tour is one thing, but leaving cars there for considerably longer might not go down too well. Any thoughts?
