meatboy Posted April 25, 2012 Share #61 Posted April 25, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tim, Correct me if I'm wrong. Let's say you have put me on your Ignore List and now, you want to know from me whether I can see that you did just that ??? ps Just a little bit cheeky from you, don't you think? ... Yes it is a little cheeky but no more than some of the comments for those I am not wanting to see.

meatboy Posted April 25, 2012 Share #62 Posted April 25, 2012 Is all of this just a little bit unbecoming and not in the spirit of this Forum? Ignore lists and banning members - all a bit sad to me and something I couldn't give a flying F*** for ! the thing is this is a crowded forum, full of opinions, attitude and low tolerance from some members. This ignore mechanism is the same if I ignored someone in a room full of people, that goes on everyday. Better I ignore them and stay connected rather than just leave. And yes its hard to just visually ignore. I read (lurk) often and post little, "listening" mostly.

With the greatest respect it's not quite the same analogy though because in a room you'd be able to hear what people are saying even though you're ignoring them. With the Ignore List it's more like you've put your hands over your ears and are chanting "La-la-la-la-la" while they're speaking to prevent hearing what they're saying at a all. Pete. Ignoring people in a room is a kind of interaction; the person or persons "ignored" usually will notice your doing so, unless they pretend they're ignoring you as well. Well, yes, there are people who will not notice that no one is listening. "Ignoring" someone in the forum will lead to no obvious traces. You still see that the person ignored has posted someting, and you will see parts of the posts if they're quoted by other members you don't ignore. To me, it's rather a tag I set with which I remind myself that I found the other members postings not worth reading. More often than not, I steel myself and click on "read anyway" but abstain from my usually incensed reactions.
Peter H Posted April 25, 2012 Share #66 Posted April 25, 2012 Does anyone know where I can get a real-life ignore-button?
