andybarton Posted February 11, 2012 Author Share #24 Posted February 11, 2012 OK, folks, I am now only waiting for the two Forewords to the book. As soon as they are received, I will upload to Blurb and buy a copy as a "beta", tweak anything necessary, resize to offer a smaller version, in soft back as well as hardback, and then let everyone know where they can find it. Nearly there!

sblitz Posted February 14, 2012 Share #27 Posted February 14, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) can't wait to see .... have a number of people in my firm lined up to buy!
andybarton Posted February 14, 2012 Author Share #28 Posted February 14, 2012 Won't be long now. The first of the forewords has arrived. When the second comes, you need to allow me time to have one delivered from Blurb so that it can be checked in hard copy. If the second foreword comes this week, I will order the proof copy at the weekend. I am on holiday the first week in March, so I suspect that with the Blurb delivery, it will be mid-March before it will be generally available. sblitz Posted February 14, 2012 Share #29 Posted February 14, 2012 is it only sold online or are there bookstores as well, and if so, in the US?
andybarton Posted February 14, 2012 Author Share #30 Posted February 14, 2012 It is only sold on-line as the upfront costs of publishing any other way would be far too great. However last time at least one dealer was buying them for stock and selling them at cost, which was a great boost.
sblitz Posted February 14, 2012 Share #31 Posted February 14, 2012 when all is ready to go i will send out an email to friends, etc with the requisite buying instructions.
andybarton Posted February 24, 2012 Author Share #32 Posted February 24, 2012 The proof copy arrived today and I will spend the weekend checking it very carefully. I have spotted only one typo, so far, so that's not too bad. I ordered one without the second Foreword, btw, as I wanted to make sure we were ready to roll as soon as it arrives It does look good though Sneak preview alongside its older brother Welcome, dear visitor! stunsworth Posted February 24, 2012 Share #33 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks Andy, it looks like a big book
andybarton Posted February 24, 2012 Author Share #34 Posted February 24, 2012 It's 12 inches square, so it is about the same width as 2010, but slightly taller. Don't forget the foreshortening of the camera - it's not THAT much bigger than last time. I will upload smaller versions too, but too small and the printed word would be too small to read. The paper feels better than last time - I'm pretty sure it's the same paper I used for my book last year. You are offered a choice of paper quality when you order the book. You can also order an image wrap or dust cover version, depending upon your preference. This one is an image wrap. Both colour and black & white renditions are very good indeed. sblitz Posted February 24, 2012 Share #35 Posted February 24, 2012 Looks great, can't wait to start selling it ..... btw how did you choose the order of photos?
andybarton Posted February 24, 2012 Author Share #36 Posted February 24, 2012 Skill and judgement Those that have seen it have said that it flows well. I did alter the order a couple of shots, following one of the judge's suggestions, and that has improve the flow.
sblitz Posted February 24, 2012 Share #37 Posted February 24, 2012 So it tells a story of sorts -- makes me all that much more anxious to see it! I presume you guys have also put together a blurb that describes the book, where the money goes, etc. I truly hope that I can sell more books at the firm than my co-workers sell girl scout cookies for their kids ... thanks again for all your tireless work on this project. steve
andybarton Posted February 24, 2012 Author Share #38 Posted February 24, 2012 There is an introduction which confirms how much money we made last time and where the money is going this time (the same charity) There is also a foreword from the CE of the charity
