jev Posted March 4, 2012 Share #1  Posted March 4, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi  I frequently use 8x ND filters with WATE, but right now looking into more of variable ND filters.  Does any one has any experience with more powerful ND filters on M9 wide angle lenses?  Once i tried 100x ND filter with the same combination, but got a lot of light leakage  Thanks

kcnarf Posted March 4, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted March 4, 2012 Hi! I too have and frequently use a WATE, so I am interested in why you would use an ND filter with one.
haroldp Posted March 4, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted March 4, 2012 Can you mount a filter on an M9 / WATE without vignetting ? Â .... H
jev Posted March 5, 2012 Author Share #4  Posted March 5, 2012 Yes you can mount it usinf step up ring to 67mm so ND filters would be 67mm  You can get some creative effects like blurring water in landscapes, HDR or some creative effects like that  Anyways I am still very interested in someones experiences with WATE and strong ND filters
jaapv Posted March 5, 2012 Share #5 Â Posted March 5, 2012 Two dashes of cold water: Â 1. Variable ND filters, being made of two polfilters, will have four uncoated surfaces, giving significant image deterioration and they are quite flare-prone. 2. They will produce residual polarized light which will lead to exposure gradients on wideangle lenses. Â Definitely not recommended on the WATE. Better to use normal ND filters in various strengths.. jev Posted March 5, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted March 5, 2012 Ok thanks, that confirms my suspicions What is the strongest one that you used without light leaks or distortions ? kcnarf Posted March 5, 2012 Share #8 Â Posted March 5, 2012 Hi again, Jev. I visited your gallery at http://artq.tublr.com and there I highly enjoyed several of your photos, but none of them were shot with A WATE, So now I have tried to view your WATE photos by clicking on the cited link,https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/view...20244078750866, but only receive an error message that says"bad request."
