90mm Summicron Screwmount

I'm even not so sure that in 1963 Leitz still made the Summicron 90 in screw-mount... but I can be wrong; anyway, I have a good item in Screw Mount that dates to 1960 : it's very heavy when put on a "small" Leica like my IIIf, and the oldstyle RF window of the LTMs is not so comfortable for a lens that, wide open, is undoubtly critical to focus : anyway, it is usable and with a image look that is up to the standards of the lenses like Elmar 90 4 elements : good contrast, decent sharpness which significantly improves around f 5,6/8; at all enjioyable in bw, the contrast looks someway unsatisfactory with color, and the OOF is not so pleasant as in some other long lenses.

All in all, I admit I love much more the Summarex... ;)

In principle, the S90 type II launched in 1963 was only made in M-mount, but the version I had (1741297) had the red position dot of the M-mount, but a detachable bayonet conversion ring, so threadmounted S90II definitely did exist after 1963.

Yes... existed in strict terms, but probably weren't sold as such, but only as BM lenses, with the adapter glued at factory... Lager, usually a trustable source, reports that the last official listing of Summicron 90 in screw mount was in 1962.
