1750Shooter Posted February 24, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Just recently, the mirror in my R3 has started hanging up. The shutter sounds like it's firing normally, but the mirror hesitates before returning. It's like in a long exposure. Anyone had any experience with this? Thoughts on a fix? Will it cure itself with use? Thanks for any input.
tobey bilek Posted February 24, 2012 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2012 Is the foam strip all gooey and holding it up? If so, replace all the foam because it is all bad. If not, it needs repair.
1750Shooter Posted February 25, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted February 25, 2012 Thanks. Found it was the Tamron adapter. I was using one marked "L/R". When I changed to one marked "For Leica" the problem went away. Don't know what the other adapter is for - maybe Rolling?
spydrxx Posted February 25, 2012 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2012 My recollection is that one was designed for Leica R4 and up, the other seemed to fit the SL and up. I don't remember either causing mirror hang on my R3, but that was quite a while ago.

They were designated for R4 on, but as the mount is identical they do of course work on the R3 too.
spydrxx Posted February 25, 2012 Share #6 Posted February 25, 2012 I think one of mine was engraved "L/R" and the other was engraved "LEICAFLEX", but I don't recall which body one of them didn't fit...the outer diameter was too large to fit under the prism overhang. earleygallery Posted February 27, 2012 Share #7 Posted February 27, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Probably the Leicaflex one - that would be for the earlier cameras.
