Moment of madness.....Or not

Hi Gang...

I have "tinkered" with a Digilux 2 a couple of years ago, sold it and regretted it virtually the same day. Then sold all of my Nikon gear and bought a Dlux 4. I was pleased with my little camera, but still knew it wasn't a "proper" Leica.

Then came last Friday, I had made my mind up I was having a M8 and I was off to a dealer to buy one. The camera he was selling had some heavy use and marks on the body, but there was a decent PX for my Dlux 4.

I was about to set off and had one last nose around Ebay and spotted a M8.2 in Stephens, Manchester. A quick call and a price was agreed on the body and a PX on the Dlux against a Elmarit 28mm.

I was surprised at the condition of camera, absolutely mint with only 1200 shots taken, glass is spotless and a years warranty to boot.

I am lighter in the pocket but very pleased. Just need to learn how to get the best from it. I'm off to a family party tonight so I'll test my limited skills out on anyone willing to sit still for 10 minutes per shot....:)

I would like to add that David from Stephens was very very helpful and has offered me a one on one session, that I will no doubt need.

Look forward to sharing some more of my images with you lot.....

Regards...

You cannot go wrong with Stephens of Manchester. It's where my m8 and lux 50 came from, superb service.

Enjoy :))

Cheers Bud..

At first I thought I have made the wrong decision, but the more I use it the more I love it...

The more I use mine the more I Love it, too. :-D

Unfortunately the more I use mine the more I learn that as a photographer I've grown pretty rusty!

Only solution:

Use the M8 More and More!

No downside in my eyes.

I'm stuck indoors at the moment recovering from a hernia op. and there's only so much of the house / pets / kids you can take pictures of....

To be honest the kids and the wife are getting cheesed off with me, every opportunity I am snapping away...

I do hope you are up, about and snapping outdoors soon.

I too have always found David a great help and very good to deal with,

we are lucky to have a proper Leica store up here I'll look forward to your photographs.

I'm not so fortunate to have a Leica Store anywhere near me.

Nearest one 'might' be in Chicago which is over 300miles south of me and I'm not even sure it would be a proper in person store if I trekked down there.

Fortunately my online and long distance Leica related purchases have all went swimmingly well. :-)
