farnz Posted February 8, 2012 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to another website this Panasonic Support webpage in Japanese says that Panasonic will stop replacing failed sensors in DMC-LC1 cameras from March 2012. Can anyone who reads Japanese confirm that this is the case and whether there are any conditions please? Pete.

wda Posted February 8, 2012 Share #3 Posted February 8, 2012 Babylon is one of the best online translators. It says free repairs expire March 31. OT I know, but having tried Babylon in the past I found it highly intrusive and a nuisance much of the time. Perhaps there is a way to keep it its 'kennel' until needed! farnz Posted February 8, 2012 Author Share #4 Posted February 8, 2012 Babylon is one of the best online translators. It says free repairs expire March 31. Yes, I'd already plugged the Japanese text into Babelfish, which returned: "Usually, you to regularly use the Panasonic product, thank you truly. Although digital camera “DMC-LC1-K” we guided the extension of gratuitous repair cycle from 2006 December 7th the image pickup element which it is on-board (CCD) to in regard, but you end with 2012 March 31st." ... and Google, which returned: "Normal circumstances, the products we patronize Panasonic, Thank you very much. Image pickup device are equipped with digital camera to "DMC-LC1-K" with respect to (CCD), but which had been free repair guide you through the extension of the period from December 7, 2006, Will be terminated on March 31, 2012 Womochimashite." ... neither of which seemed to say the same thing. So I was looking for confirmation from a Japanese speaker that the intent of the text was to warn of imminently ceasing sensor replacements rather than read between the lines and be mistaken. Pete. lesh Posted February 13, 2012 Share #5 Posted February 13, 2012 I confess to having had a frisson of excitement there............. as I quickly skimmed over the titles of the latest threads. The brain merely registered "LC1 Sensor replacement" which seemed to perhaps suggest an offer from big P to upgrade the internal electronics to something approaching current standards. Even before getting to the content of the thread, whatever it might cost had been instantly accepted as 'reasonable'. These fancy new cameras can get back in line. Dreams...........
