Â Put a black lens on a chrome body or a chrome lens on a black body and click away - after all, the film in the camera doesn't know the difference! IWC Doppel Posted February 2, 2012 Share #11  Posted February 2, 2012 I really like black lenses on silver bodies and think silver lenses on black bodies look especially different and cool  But then again I coloured my mag alloys black on my RS before it was 'in' and everyone thought it was here heresy in 97.  I am not mad on silver on silver or black on black.....  I prefer the mismatch, maybe it's my insecurity and the 'need' be different or lack of style ! philipus Posted February 2, 2012 Share #15  Posted February 2, 2012 With the Barnacks in mind, I guess one could argue that silver/chrome lenses on black bodies is the original way.  For me it comes down to weight and I'm in the process of changing my lenses to black. Apparently, Leica thought the black and silver combination suitable for a special edition M6 for Vaclav Havel - that is, unless they too, like the rest of us, had a problem finding any Leica lenses in stock, let alone ones that match. In the world of Leica lens deliveries that's not too bad. My M9-P is silver chrome, and I absolutely do not care what color lens I mount, as long as they deliver excellent performance. My 35 Summicron ASPH, 50 Summilux ASPH and 90 Elmarit M lenses are silver chrome, but my 18SEM, 21SEM and new 35 Summilux are all black. The silver chrome lenses are a little heavier, but not so much that I really notice. Also the built in lens hoods on the silver chrome lenses have a heavier, more positive feel when being extended. None of this matters when it comes to the image, however.  Welcome to the forum, please continue to contribute, and never be afraid to ask questions (even if you do receive the occasional caustic reply)!!! As for a "cure," far be it for me to offer you medical or existential advice for GAS - but I will. Take two doses of "Summaalox" - either the 50mm or 35mm tab, and find your nearest Leica Anonymous chapter. "Hi, I'm Mark and I have GAS." That ought to do it. You will feel much better, doc.
