Advertisement Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Hi eudemian, Take a look here Autumn in the city. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 24, 2012 Share #2 Â Posted January 24, 2012 Hmmm. Interesting. As it stands, I feel it is a fairly murky and uninteresting shot. But what I would try is the following: remove the vignetting. Crop it by about 20%, partly losing the unsharpness at the right and the emptyness at the top. Then I would adjust the exposure that the histogram is centered. Make a layer. On that layer use levels and curves to get full tonality. Then convert to B&W, adjust the contrast and brightness to get a pleasing contrast curve with a bit of sparkle in the leaves. Then adjust fill and opacity to bring back a hint of the color. Bring back a bit of vignette. I have no idea if it would work....
pauledell Posted January 24, 2012 Share #3 Â Posted January 24, 2012 Tom, Â I think K-H has some intriguing ideas worth trying. I would suggest cropping the top of the picture to get rid of the white line and the right side a bit to lose the out-of focus area. Getting rid of the white line in the upper right corner and also the light color in the lower right would improve it. You could consider cloning some of the white lines if you don't like the cropping. Then convert it to a b&w for you to see which pleases you the most. eudemian Posted January 25, 2012 Author Share #6 Â Posted January 25, 2012 You will have to become my picture editor Jaapv, As usual insightful comments, I have had another go at this but I think this is a flawed photo, there is a germ of a good idea here but I should have shot it differently. Ho Hum, still this is a good learning experience and I do value all the comments.
