Rick1975 Posted January 22, 2012 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have bought 4!!! conversion programs that claim to deal with AVCHD but none of them seems to be able to process AVCHD lite. I use AVCHD in a pano camcorder with no problems but cannot transfer AVCHD "lite" to my PC. The files play fine on my camera. I'm not a sophisticated user---there are several good threads regarding how to do this on a Mac but PC comment seems to be 2-3 years old. I now record JPEG on my D Lux 5 out of frustration but I have a video clip from when I first got my camera and the person in it has died---I'd really like to preserve this and distribute this to the family. Most of the answers I've gotten outside of this forum appear to be scammers pushing their software. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you resolve it? Greatly appreciate the advice but please keep it simple, I'm a point and click guy. PS I just want to transfer AVCHD lite to my pc---convert it to the optimal format and, ultimately, burn to DVDs. Once again, thanks.

Digitom Posted January 22, 2012 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2012 You tried VLC Media Player?
Rick1975 Posted January 22, 2012 Author Share #3 Posted January 22, 2012 Will try it. Thanks, Rick Danke
Blindjock Posted January 23, 2012 Share #4 Posted January 23, 2012 VLC will play just about anything but can be tricky to use.
JeTexas Posted January 23, 2012 Share #5 Posted January 23, 2012 VLC should play the video with no problem. If you want to edit it, you might check out the latest version of CyberLink PowerDirector. I do my major editing in Adobe Premiere CS5, but I still keep PowerDirector around for quick and dirty stuff. It also seems to be handle a wide array of video codecs, so sometimes I have to use it just to convert whatever video I'm handed into a format that Premiere can read. JeTexas Posted January 23, 2012 Share #6 Posted January 23, 2012 Oh, there's also a free conversion program called Handbrake that, although slow, is usually up-to-date and able to convert anything you can throw at it.
stunsworth Posted January 24, 2012 Share #7 Posted January 24, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Although I don't use it for AVCHD, Handbreak is very good.
