I use my 15mm Voigtlander (21mm equivalent) and a radio triggered flash to capture personalities in an up close and personal way a la Bruce Gilden, etc. The only problem I have is my hot shoe is occupied by a pocket wizard and setting the viewfinder on top does not give a realistic enough view of the scene I'm shooting. Which led me to this... Welcome, dear visitor! It's worked so far, but I know my days with this are numbered and it's only time before something goes wrong. I'm considering *gasssp* Super Gluing the cold shoe to the top plate but would much much prefer the boys at MatchTechnical to create a solution to accomodate the billions of us who need this If anyone else has a good solution, as Ross Perot says, "I'm all Ears". The Flex is attached to a Canon 580EXII. Took some configuration by the PocketWizard utility to get it to work with the M8 but once I got it going it has worked perfectly. Funny because last week i have been thinking and looking for a solution myself on how to place a 24mm viewfinder on my m6ttl when using youngnuo rf602. I thought about (the discontinued double accessory shoe from voigtlander or) somehow placing the viewfinder on top of the transmitter. I would need the calculate/guestimate the exact heightchanges in the view but that is also the case when it is taped on the side. Have you tried just placing your viewfinder on the Mini tt1? I also have the M8. What functionalities do you get from the pocket wizzard setup? Or do you use A and M mode? Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest #12 Posted January 22, 2012 Share #10 Posted January 22, 2012 ... Might try Kaiser 1300 low profile adapter, which is hotshoe-to-PC with a cold shoe on top for the viewfinder. Well, a big "thank you" to you JAAPV, I marched my butt down to the Auto Parts store and bought some 3M double sided tape as you recommended. The stuff below is Grade 2 of 4 and was the only stuff they had. I'm not sure if 1 or 4 is the most heavy duty but 2 is pretty damn strong and sticky. Welcome, dear visitor! This is important to have as my crappy Voigtlander VF slides right through the shoe without it. I bought the cold shoe you recommended but discovered mine is a little more advantageous with the extra height. It accomodates my MiniTT1 perfectly, allowing me to able to place the VF closer to the transmitter. Someone else question whether or not the VF would cover up the EOL indicator / exposure counter. By placing the VF towards the front lip of the camera this allowed me to have almost full view of the little screen so no problems there. All-in-all I'm pretty happy with the turnout. It's not the sexiest thing you'll ever lay eyes on to be sure, but it's nice to know in a pinch any of us can spend a couple bucks at the store and having a working VF/Pocketwizard combo. So what if my purist Leica M has started to look like the unfinished Death Star... See you on the street!
