rosuna Posted February 24, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have tried the -3.0 dioptre compensation lens for M cameras, but it isn't enough for me. I tried the positive range as well. I would need a -4.0 or something like that. Anyone knows a supplier of alternative dioptre compensation lenses for M viewfinders? Advertisement Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Hi rosuna, Take a look here Dioptre compensation lenses for M. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rafael_macia Posted February 24, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 24, 2007 I too require a -4. They have not been made for about by Leica for 15-20 years. Leica only makes up to -3 now. You may be able to find one by looking really, really hard. Go to camera shows, check dealer's old stock. A minus 4 diopter is a difficult thing to buy, and find, and by the same token, is difficult for a dealer to sell. Someone has to be looking for it. So. A solution? You could hunt down any Leica diopter and have an optician, fit in a -4 glass. That shouldn't cost too much. Some opticians fit diopters for photographers regularly. Maybe someone on the Forum knows one near you. Until you find something, you can do what I did in China when my -4, 20 year old diopter fell out. I went and bought a Nikon -4 diopter and simply taped it to the eyepiece. It worked fine. You should guage your eyeglass prescription and guess which diopter you need .It is easy to find a Nikon -4. Just look through it ... if you see clear, it will be fine. If you are unsuccessful, contact me, I have a -5 Leica M unused diopter, which is a bit too strong for me. Good luck Rafael I have tried the -3.0 dioptre compensation lens for M cameras, but it isn't enough for me. I tried the positive range as well.
