charlesphoto99 Posted February 24, 2007 Share #1 Â Posted February 24, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) In my run up to selling some gear and purchasing an M8 am reviewing my equipment. I have a very nice last generation 135 tele-elmar that I would love to hold onto. I don't use it that often but may if I dump my dslr. I will probably be selling my M6 .85 and and hanging onto my M7 .58x though 135mm won't frame with that. I have a 90 APO but can always use the bit extra time to time esp if I go sans the Nikon. Â My question is, I saw a set of 135 2.8 "eyes" only for sell - could I use these with the tele-elmar? ie figure out a way to temporarily tape them to the camera when I need to. Would this then give me the correct framing for a 135mm (180 actual) with the elmar? Or is this ridiculous? Not sure how much they need to be aligned etc. I've only held an elmarit never actually used one. Of course i could always just learn to chimp the elmar framing. Â Or I could sell it and get a bulkier 2.8 ( I could always use the extra stop) but the quality of the tele-elmar has always been really impressive. Would the quality of the elmarit wide open be comparable after figuring in the cropping of the edges? Anything else i should know about it? Â Thanks! robsteve Posted February 24, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 24, 2007 Charles: Â The 135mm f4 tele-elmar works very well on the M8. I have only used it for two or three shots, but the performance is impressive. You can guess at the composition using the focus patch as a guide. Â Here is a shot done with mine on the M8. charlesphoto99 Posted February 24, 2007 Author Share #3 Â Posted February 24, 2007 Nice. Great bokeh (and cute kid). Yes, that lens is very special and not what one commonly thinks of with the M. Here is a shot I did with it in Vietnam on M6. Â Any comments/images on Elmarit wide open?
