the.ant Posted December 22, 2011 Share #1  Posted December 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello friends!  I was incredibly stupid and due to a severe case of lack of sleep and jetlag, I lost my camera at Seattle-Tacoma airport, on Tuesday, 20th of December, the terminal. [/url] I noticed it maybe 15 minutes later, but when I returned to the place where I think I lost it, it was already gone. I filed a report with lost&found at the airport, but I didn't have time to search the area or go to the police, because I had to catch my flight to Europe.  So, I'd kindly ask you to keep an eye open whether you see the camera appear on craigslist or ebay. Are there any second hand shops in seattle I could contact? Of course, the camera might be anywhere in the world by now, but all I can do is try...  It's a mid eighties Leica M6, with a 35mm Voigtländer color skopar II pancake. The lensehood of the skopar has a noticable dent and scratches. The brand and model marking on the camera are taped over, but of course that is easily removed. The serial number of the camera ends with 94. I had a leather wriststrap attached to the camera.  If you see that camera appear somewhere or have any idea where I could keep looking, please let me know!  best, tim

andybarton Posted December 22, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted December 22, 2011 You should advise Leica Customer Services in Solms of your loss, as well as your insurance company. If it turns up in Solms for a service, they will know what to do. Â Post the SN here too.
algrove Posted December 22, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted December 22, 2011 When traveling with my gear (or just traveling), I always count how many bags I have with me. Then, at each and every stop I (try to remember to) recount all bags before leaving that stop. Â Sorry for your jet lagged loss. Was this in the transit area? Michael Geschlecht Posted December 23, 2011 Share #6 Â Posted December 23, 2011 Hello Tim, Â Sorry for your loss. Â You might also methodically go to all of the Camera Stores, Pawn Shops, Etc you can think of for about a 30km radius from the airport. Starting nearer & spiraling outward like a watch spring. But go to any concentrations of stores first. Â Don't forget to do what Andy said as well as reporting this to the various appropriate authorities before you begin your own search. Â Regardless of what anyone tells you do not think telling 1 Authority be it Airport, Town or State, means all will be notified or any 1 of them will interact w/ anyone else. You must treat each authority be it Town or whatever as a separate Planet where you must begin everything from the beginning again. Hard work. Â Make up a list & make many more copies than you think you will need w/ descriptions, serial #s, etc to give away to all of these places as well as others who you personnally think are trustworthy. When in doubt - DONT. Â Put your local Police, Police's address & phone, not yours. Only do this after OK-ing this w/ your local Police. Do not give your home address/phone #, etc to anyone who is not an appropriate authority. No one else needs to know. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
