MarkP Posted December 18, 2011 Share #41 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been very tempted, but a maximum of f4 is just too slow for me. Â GAS has not extended to the MATE.
Advertisement Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi MarkP, Take a look here Is 28, 35 and 50mm too much?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Messsucherkamera Posted December 18, 2011 Share #42  Posted December 18, 2011 I just bought it. The lens is as new - I can't really find any fault besides the square hood cap that is missing (it seems that it's quite easy to loose). The lens was already 6-bit coded and all manuals and boxes were included. Not a bad deal for the price. )   --- I am here: Google Maps Luciano Oliveira  Good call - it's what I (and many others) would have done, even if a 28 was already in my camera bag.  Now comes the most critical part of the equation: Keep it. Don't ever sell off a Leica M lens or camera body!  I once owned a Voigtlander 35 f/1.2 Nokton (version one) which I didn't seem to use much. I decided to sell it. Sure enough, six months down the road I missed the lens and was kicking myself for selling it. Next thing I hear, Voigtlander stops making the Nokton and used prices skyrocket.  Now Voigtlander is making the Nokton again, but at over twice the price I paid for the Nokton I once owned. To add insult to self-inflicted injury, CV decided to fugly up the Nokton 35mm V.2 by putting a shiny chrome ring on it. Yuuuuuk!! And to top it off, the lens hood is now a $109US add on. Oh, bugger!!  Many others can tell similar tales of misery about mistakes made in selling off Leica lenses and bodies. I would recommend learning from the folly of others and steering well clear of doing likewise.  JMHO.
yanidel Posted December 18, 2011 Share #43 Â Posted December 18, 2011 Hi Yan! Â Travelling while someone sells your Hexanon in Hong Kong on ebay ? Serious: never thought there are two of those in the whole wide world. Even a 1.2 Noctilux surfaces occasionally, but it's the first time I see it outside your Paris site. There are Hex 1.2/50ies and I thought you got yours from a sheik, who had it made for order and got bored of it. Â Cheers, Simon Hi Simon! Â Actually, when I see that the 60mm Hexanon is now dealing at 2-3 times what I paid for it, I am tempted. Joking, I'll never sell ! Â Cheers, Yanick
yanidel Posted December 18, 2011 Share #44  Posted December 18, 2011 If I could only keep one lens it would be my 50 Summilux ASPH, but I think the most versatile single focal length for travel is my 35 Summilux ASPH FLE. Is that also your thought travelling with the 35 for 6 months? I note you have the version-1 35 Summilux ASPHpre-FLE. Was it bought at the time it came out or do you prefer it to the version-2 ASPH FLE?  I liked the Sydney photographs. Nice to see an "outsider's" take on one's home town.   Mark Actually, I also left the M9 home and took only the M8 + 35mm Lux Asph. I thought the corresponding 46mm field of view would cover most situations. I sometimes wish I had a longer lens, sometimes a bit wider but overall once you adapt your style to a single focal, you can shoot anything. I'd even say that it bolsters creativity since you always have to find a way to make it work within that lone focal.  As for why the pre-FLE, because it was the only one available at the time and anyways, I could not have afforded the new. I did try it though, but could not see any significant improvement to justify the investment.
Paulus Posted December 24, 2011 Share #45  Posted December 24, 2011 Hi, I've bought a M9-P and 28 Elmarit. The 50 Summilux ASPH is ordered and should arrive within the next few weeks. However I got an opportunity to buy a 35 Summicron ASPH for a very good price (around 1.000€).  Should I move forward and get it or will it be redundant with the 28/50?  Thanks!   Luciano Oliveira  A Summicron 35mm asph fot € 1000,- ? That's a good buy! I sold mine for € 1000,- in the pre - M8 era. You lucky man. Buy the lens. You can sell it any time you want and in the mean time play around with it until the 50mm arrives ( in appr. 9 months )
