Well said Larry but seriously when was the last time Canon and Nikon announced updates to there existing products. Believe me never that I can ever recall. No question it would be nice to get updates but I'm not expecting any .

Why? They said February 07. On my calendar its February 07 for another week. I'm too busy enjoying taking great images with the camera to worry.

Why? Why not? We're talking about thousands of people who have spent a great deal of money for a product that was released with too little regard for quality assurance and customer confidence. What possible harm could there be in putting out an e-mail updating all of us on the progress (or lack thereof) of FW 1.10, so that we might know what is going on, good or bad? Same with the IR filters. If it has proven to be impossible to keep up with demand, and we won't see them until February, I'd like to be able to plan accordingly. I'm not into beating Leica up by any means. But as a customer, I am part of the total equation, and I feel we have right to be keep illuminated, not in the dark.

I'm glad you busy taking great images. I had my M8 for three days before I had to send it back, and after 7 weeks, just got it back 2 days ago, so I look forward to getting out and putting it through the paces.

Guy,

I'm not expecting updates either. I have way too many other things to focus on than when version 1.10 is released. Canon does send e-mail notices of firmware upgrades, so I'm hoping that Leica can do the same -- but I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist if they don't!

When Nikon announced the D2Xs, they also announced that a firmware update would be available by late summer to upgrade most of the features of the D2X to those of the D2Xs. And they delivered.

On 12/2/06, I held and read a rep memo that stated 1.10 would be available sometime in December '06. Combine that with the timely release of DMR firmware updates and it's easy to see why some people might be a bit skeptical.

Geoffrey,

I agree with you. You raise an interesting point -what key features are they working toward?

General reliability? Better WB? Faster startup time? Manual lens coding settings? Pressing one's nose against the LCD to change ISO on the fly? :)

I wonder if what we get will be what most people expect.

FWIW, I have always received excellent service from Leica NJ -from the top on down.I believe that in many cases, they're just reacting to information from Germany.
