Opinions/Inputs on Luigi's Leicatime M case.

Hi everyone, I have ordered a leica halfcase with Natural Aged brown with the thumbs up cutout from Mr. Luigi, due to arrive tomorrow.

But now I have several raised concerns as I have read several stories from people with experience with Luigi's case that disappoints.

Some complained about the leather being loose and not fit, and some complained about the leather going over several buttons.

What I am most concerned is that several users reported that the inside velvet lining can actually bleed into your camera and leave marks that won't come off. I need to know if this is true and well, if it is, I'd rather sell the case as many would've wanted it anyway. The purpose of the case is to make it look better aesthetically while protecting it from harm. But if it's harming the camera itself, then why bother?

So I'm mostly interested if anyone can share some light regarding this matter, and I hope you can post some pictures as well regarding to your complains.

Thanks everyone!

Two Luigi half cases here also. One not in use anymore just because I don't have a film M any longer. The other spent two years on my M8 and now 2 on my M9. It has aged beautifully, the leather has softened and moulded and there is certainly no hint of any bleed onto the camera. They have worked very well and preserved my cameras' finish from wear as well as several serious bumps.

There was an issue with some cases marking the cameras, but this was a long time in the past and was corrected by a change in materials, according to a post here by L.C., and I have heard no more about it.

I love my Luigi half case, no problems, no marking of my silver chrome camera, no false button presses, no issues.

The leather has now softened up, and also darkened a bit. It's very easy to put on and take off, and is now as comfortable as a favorite pair of gloves in winter.

I do wonder what the "life expectancy" of my case will be, in that it is used and removed on a daily basis. I know eventually I will wear it out, but this case is so well made, like a pair of bespoke shoes, that I feel repair is a strong option when something does eventually break.

I bought one, sight unseen - loved it so much I bought another. :)

Let's be honest. His cases are expensive, there are obviously cheaper solutions out there. But those that have one all say the same thing, and that's it's top-notch quality, looks and feels great, etc.

Try one yourself and see. Worse comes to worse, you can sell it on the forum(s) for little if any loss.

The case arrived and I excitedly put it on. I will have pictures under the sunlight tomorrow morning - I am at the other side of the world.

The material is indeed very nice, clean cuts, the natural aged brown colour looks like natural aged brown haha.. The leather is supple and stitching is proper and well adjusted given that it is handmade. The leather is also thick enough to withstand wear and tear imho and the deep red velvet lining is soft. I sure hope it wont bleed anywhere.

However, the only gotcha is that the rear part doesnt actually fit very well. The thumbsup cutout doesnt fit along the line of my thumbup correctly.. So I had to put the leather bit under my thumbs up and press it in. So my thumbsup is not fully inserted into my hotshoe. Also the leather under the viewfinder hole doesnt align as well, its kinda off and some part is slanted. This also caused the play button to be half covered by the leather. This will be better shown in pictures. Other than that, everything is fine.

Luigi cases (and a lot of other leather products) require a bit of time to "form" - it'll crease a bit where it's supposed to and snug up to the body a bit, etc. The case gets better and better with use and wears well.

If you need to make minor adjustments, such as around the TU - you can use a SHARP knife like an X-Acto to shave off a bit. Follow up with what's called "Heel Dressing" which is a black paint of sorts meant for shoe heels on the edge you cut. Though in a pinch, a black Sharpie marker will work... :D

The top line of the leather (by the LCD) has been a "thing" with Luigi cases. It used to come down lower, actually - until Luigi modified the design slightly. It's normal to cover the button label "Play" but otherwise shouldn't cover anything like the actual button or LCD.
