terrycioni Posted February 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) It was a perfect day for a parade. The weather man said rain but oh yeah wrong again! The Lunar New Year Parade in Vancouver BC always attracts are large crowd to Chinatown. The year of the pig - seemed to be even bigger and better than expected. We decided to check it out, and managed to get a reasonable parking spot. All shot without IR filters - using ZM 25mm F2.8, Tri-Elmar V1 F4, and the 90 AA Summicron F2. It was a fun day. Wow talk about heavy duty hardware, Nikon and Canon were highly visible. There were even a few film cameras floating around. Man were there a lot of D200, D70s, and D80. Here are just a few on my good old flickr site: Lunar New Year Vancouver - a photoset on Flickr If you click on the picture and then the All Sizes tab you can see a larger view. All processed with C1 Pro using the Jamie Roberts profile (thank you Jamie). Best To All. Terry.
Advertisement Posted February 19, 2007 Posted February 19, 2007 Hi terrycioni, Take a look here New Year's Parade - Vancouver BC . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rob_x2004 Posted February 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 19, 2007 Really sends out the colours that camera / profile. Just a quick mention, I found the site loaded a bit slow with the cropped 1200x1200 images at 580k. Great for the poachers:D .
stuny Posted February 19, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 19, 2007 Terry - Really beautiful, the few that I went to, with excellent color, detail, subjects, light and framing. However, I find it annoying to click away from the Forum to see the referenced photos on a string, plus Flicker doesn't seem to let you go from image to image without first using the back button to get to the page with the thumbnails. abrewer Posted February 20, 2007 Share #5 Posted February 20, 2007 Another Flickr casualty here...the site is down for routine maintenance. Why they do this at 11PM EST instead of 4AM EST is beyond me. I have a Flickr account too, so I'm griping not at you Terry but at the folks at Flickr who schedule this nonsense. Terry, it is very simple to post here. Just make sure when you "Save for Web" in your editing software that the file is a jpeg less than 250K in size. Actually, I usually adjust the "quality" slider to a size approximately 200K just to be sure. And size the photos no more than 940 wide and 940 height. My default sizes are usually 750x550 with a 100 pixel "canvas" border where I can hide my copyright mark. Then just click the little paperclip icon that opens when you open any "New Thread" or "Reply" button, upload the file like you do at Flickr and you're all set. Alternatively you can click the "Manage Attachments" bar and accomplish the same thing. Try a few test shots and let us know if you have any problems or need something deleted to get you right. Thanks. Allan
Artichoke Posted February 20, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 20, 2007 and it looked like a wonderful parade very sharp & detailed with exquisite colors certainly all that heavy equipment at the parade did not place you at any disadvantage ...this gallery is a fine demonstration of why I love the M8 Terry - Really beautiful, the few that I went to, with excellent color, detail, subjects, light and framing. I understand what you are saying, but you can always open the gallery as a new window that said flickr is not my favorite photo hosting site ...it was undergoing a "massage" so I was unable to see some from this fine series
JT07 Posted February 20, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 20, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Terry, very well done, thank you for sharing. I picked up my M8 a week or so ago but it's been so cold here it's been hard to get outside with it. Thanks for sharing these photos, as a father of two adopted Chinese Daughters I'm learning more and more about the importance of the Chinese New Year. We celebrated our first as a family this past Saturday night. I showed my 3 year old your pictures, she loved them. Thanks again.
