mrgigi Posted November 7, 2011 Share #1 Â Posted November 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, I found the lack of an exposure lock separate from the focus lock to be a significant flaw in the software of the X1, but I think I have it solved. Wondering if anyone else has tried this. I'm using the spot exposure metering mode. With the camera in autofocus mode and spot metering on, the half press on the shutter can be used to lock the autofocus point. Then a quick switch to manual focus mode can be made which does not shift the focus point of the lens if a focus adjustment is not made in manual mode. Once in manual focus, the exposure point can be moved and locked, the frame readjusted as desired, and the click. Kind of an annoying workaround, but I think it works. Maybe you all know that already, but I'm quite excited to discover it.

ECliffordSmith Posted November 7, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted November 7, 2011 Hi, Â Personally when I need to separate the focus lock from the exposure I tend to switch from aperture priority to manual expsoure mode. I like the direct control you have. Your method of using manual focus is of course equally valid, if you are in good light and stopped down to 5.6 for example the zone focus method works well. wda Posted November 7, 2011 Share #3 Â Posted November 7, 2011 I agree with Ed. It is much easier and more accurate to switch to manual exposure control which is one of the most valuable 'retro' design points.
phancj Posted November 9, 2011 Share #4 Â Posted November 9, 2011 Having used the X1 for almost 2 years I only use manual exposure and AF. Â CJ
