Keith (M) Posted November 6, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was contemplating buying a Zhou half-case for my newly-acquired M4. However, the case shown as suitable for all film M's would cover almost all of the self-timer lever on my M4. Are there half-cases available to specifically suit the M4? (hopefully without being extortionately priced!)

bill Posted November 6, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 6, 2011 Keith, I have a Luigi half-case on my M2 and am pleased to say that it covers the self-timer completely. Why would you want it exposed? Regards, Bill
Keith (M) Posted November 6, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted November 6, 2011 Keith, I have a Luigi half-case on my M2 and am pleased to say that it covers the self-timer completely. Why would you want it exposed? Regards, Bill Well, it is not that I want the lever exposed, Bill, I just thought that with the edge of the case running diagonally across the lever, it would prevent the case from sitting snugly against the body and potentially be unsightly. Ulrik Posted November 6, 2011 Share #4 Posted November 6, 2011 I am not happy with my Zhou half-case. The wind lever always rubs on the upper rim of the case with my M4-cameras.. Ulrik
TomB_tx Posted November 6, 2011 Share #5 Posted November 6, 2011 I got a Zhou case for my M6, and also use it on my M4. It does cover the self timer on the M4 (battery compt on the M6 of course), but otherwise fits perfectly and the wind lever doesn't rub on the case. I also use them on my M9 and CL, and have no complaints about any of the three. Write and ask Zhou about different fit for the timer lever - he seems quite adaptable to what you need. I plan to get one for my M5 as well.
bill Posted November 6, 2011 Share #6 Posted November 6, 2011 Ah I see what you mean. Well, as I said, the Luigi case covers completely and is all the more comfortable for it, IMO. Regards, Bill
scsambrook Posted November 7, 2011 Share #7 Posted November 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) The Zhou/Luigi type cases are okay but I still think the "best" pattern of half case for the M2/3/4 is on the lines of the body part of the old 14 534 pattern introduced in the late '60s. Unlike previous Leica cases the front part could be removed via a spigot and plastic bushing arrangement. Good idea but poor execution as the bushing soon became worn and the front flap tended to fall off when you didn't want it. Mine vanaished ages ago leaving me with a now-fashionable half-case which is far more protective than the current offerings. Shame I can't get something similar for my M8
Clickie McPete Posted November 7, 2011 Share #8 Posted November 7, 2011 I don't have an M4 so can't comment on the fit for that camera. However, I have many Zhou cases and straps for other cameras, both Leica and non Leica. I really love his products and he's pleasant to deal with. I recently wrote him and asked if I could get some wrist straps made in a shorter length and he immediately replied no problem, just order some straps and leave a note to make them shorter.
