bohtho Posted February 17, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Does anyone have any tips regarding a camera bag (or case) which fits the Digilux 3 only with kit lens and extra battery perhaps ? I don´t like the Leica neoprene one. It would be better with something a little more weather resistant.
LichMD Posted February 17, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 17, 2007 You might want to try this Domke Amazon.com: Domke F-5XB Shoulder/Belt Bag (Olive): Camera & Photo
bohtho Posted February 17, 2007 Author Share #3 Posted February 17, 2007 Thanks for the tip. I like the classic and discrete look, but it doesn´t look like it allows for the D3 with a fitted lens, which I´m looking for..
dugby Posted February 17, 2007 Share #4 Posted February 17, 2007 i'm using a Crumpler Cucumberumba, from ebay for $19. http://cgi.ebay.com/Crumpler-Cucumberumba-Camera-Bag-Brown-C-004_W0QQitemZ320082203213QQihZ011QQcategoryZ64336QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
bohtho Posted February 18, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 18, 2007 Ok, thank you. But is it as soft and unpadded as it looks ? I noticed this shop lists the rather nice Leica Cordura case as fitting for the Digilux 3. Does anyone know if it fits ? Because all aother shops just mentions the V-lux 1. MarcRochkind Posted February 18, 2007 Share #6 Posted February 18, 2007 LowePro makes small bags in many different sizes. I found one just right for my M8, and maybe you can find one just right, too. Here's my post: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/digital-forum/16188-bag-just-m8-but-not-form.html?highlight=lowepro#post169376. --Marc

Leica Cordura Case for Leica Digilux 3 18666 Digital Camera Bag Thomas I would suggest that cases for the D3 an V-Lux1 may not be compatible/interchangeable. I base this on the fact that Leica have two different part numbers for the Neoprene cases for a D3 and V-Lux1 Also the dimensions of both cameras appear different enough that a V-Lux1 case may be slightly too small for a D3
rsolomon Posted February 21, 2007 Share #8 Posted February 21, 2007 there;s a billingham case designed for the digilux 3, my dad has it -- nice bag, again made by billingham with a leica embossment on it - i think it only comes in black
bohtho Posted February 21, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted February 21, 2007 Can anyone verify if the Billingham is a nice bag ? Or is it just posh ?
spylaw4 Posted February 21, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 21, 2007 The Leica Billingham bag looks a bit like the 'Alice' or its current equivalent, and they are nice well-made bags. I suspect that the cost from Leica is more than that from Billingham for the equivalent bag. I have the Alice for my D2 and although it is fine for the camera with hood and small camera accesories, it's not quite big enough to easily carry around guide books, maps, water bottle etc. when out for the day. The D3 is bigger by quite a lot so I personally would be looking at a larger bag for that camera. Especially if you want to carry it with a lens fixed in place, and at least one additional lens. (And then you have the carry-on flight luggage scenario so your camera bag has to fit in your carry-on.)
bohtho Posted February 21, 2007 Author Share #11 Posted February 21, 2007 Anyone with a Matin Leganza here ? Looks like a Billingham L2 only a third of the price. How are these types of bags anyway ? The aforementioned Domke and the Billingham L2 etc. Can you keep the lens on the body ?
dwcolvin Posted February 21, 2007 Share #12 Posted February 21, 2007 The D3 with lens fits nicely in the Lowepro TLZ 1, with ample room for batteries and memory cards. I, too, find the Leica neoprene case not particularly useful
miami91 Posted February 22, 2007 Share #13 Posted February 22, 2007 I have the Leica/Billingham bag for the D3 and I'm quite happy with it. With the kit lens in place, the main compartment is completely filled (although comfortably). So to carry an additional lens (or flash, or car keys, etc.), I bought one of Billingham's add-on pouches, which attaches to the side strap. Very versatile. There is a small pocket in the front of the bag as well, which allows storage of WhiBal card, lens cleaning cloth, etc. Jeff.
