g80 Posted February 16, 2007 Share #1 Posted February 16, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) None of the big retailers carry the M7 with the .58 frameline. Where can I purchase one? Id prefer to get it from BH, if possible. Also, do these cameras come in a box, shrink-wrapped?
Advertisement Posted February 16, 2007 Posted February 16, 2007 Hi g80, Take a look here Availabilty of M7 .58. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ddp Posted February 16, 2007 Share #2 Posted February 16, 2007 You would most likely need to special order it via the Ala Carte program. Standard in stock M bodies would have a .72 finder.
TimF Posted February 16, 2007 Share #3 Posted February 16, 2007 Agree with Dan. I believe the alternative viewfinders are now only available a la carte (apart from whatever stock might remain 'out there' of course).

g80 Posted February 16, 2007 Author Share #5 Posted February 16, 2007 Thanks- I suppose it will have to be a la carte, then. What kind of lead time should I expect with this program? Also, what about the issue of shrink-wrap? Does the box come sealed in any way? I prefer the camera not be handled by anyone other than me- I know, it's weird. They are not machine-made and have already been handled by a dozen people. If this guy is a Leica dealer, the 3 year passport, 5 year warranty will be in effect when you send in the card. Make sure he is and that the serial # is 2885xxx+ to assure that it has the latest v/f mods. eBay: Leica M7 Black 0.58 USA, New, Boxed. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted February 17, 2007 Share #7 Posted February 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) >> g80 Don´t worry about the serielnumber. In case you order one now you most likely get a camera in the 3.100.xxx- range. But all the other specifications are according YOUR wishes. That´s a great opportunity to have a tailored camera made only for your photographic needs. Enjoy the ordering process. Once your order is confirmed it might take 6 to 8 weeks before you have it in your hands. Perhaps your dealer has a s/h LEICA M with a 35 mm- lens for you as a loaner. So you can get used to the system in case that should be necessary .... Best

Also, do these cameras come in a box, shrink-wrapped? Welcome to the Forum! Think of a Leica like a jewel purchased at a jeweler. It doesn't come inside a customer-proof plastic cover. It's made for your hands to use, not be frustrated by. Chances are this is "New Old Stock" from someone's storeroom, or a treasure that someone bought to let appreciate and now wants to turn for a profit. You should check for the updated finder as it will help justify the price (a little) and save you a couple of hundred bucks to have it upgraded on your own dime. Good luck finding what you're looking for. Thanks. Allan
Guest Bernd Banken Posted February 17, 2007 Share #9 Posted February 17, 2007 Hi, just one hour ago I hit the button for a M7 0,58 with Serialnr. 2886xx. In two weeks I'm back from France and then I'll have the MP for Seniors;) in my hands. Senior: the automatic position for fast shooting on the streets... My M6 and the Cron 50 I'll trade in for the 50 Lux Blackpaint....I like the feeling of the focus ring. Bernd
leicapfile Posted February 17, 2007 Share #10 Posted February 17, 2007 They Used To Shrink Wrap Boxes, But I Think It Ended In 70's Or So. Two Of The Last Items I've Purchased, Came Direct From Leica Nj W/o Shrink Wrap. As Bill Said, The Bodies Are In A Plastic Bag In Their Box. Leica Bodies Back From Nj From A Cla Are Also In Plastic Bags (with A Leica Script On Them). Best, Jerry
