fishnbanjo Posted October 13, 2011 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) In process of making the purchase, my main goal is to use it for photos of Antique Bamboo Fly Rods and related vintage tackle. I have experience with P&S camera's which I find less than ideal for my needs and Nikon D3 and D3x bodies which are fine in a setting when I'm with a client in their home or mine but not if I'm traveling for a free appraisal period since I can't leave a D3 or D3x body and lens sitting and strapping it on my neck not a lot of fun winding through crowds. My way of thinking is this might be my best option but not having any rangefinder experience, nor with the lenses one might associate with my goal I was hoping some of you folks might share some lens choices if possible, I can provide photos of what I am trying to do if needed. Thanks. banjo
Advertisement Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Hi fishnbanjo, Take a look here Soon to be new M8 owner. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Stateowned Posted October 13, 2011 Share #2 Posted October 13, 2011 RF focussing will be suprisingly easy with your subjects because you need the 2 boxes to interlock in the viewfinder.. since the rods/reels are usualy straight lines its easy to overlay.. in aspect of lenses it just depends on what u want to capture, keep in mind most RF lenses are MFD 0.7Meter
fishnbanjo Posted October 13, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted October 13, 2011 Thank you, not quite sure exactly what you mean on 0.7 meter is this similar to what DX camera see's compared to it's FF brother, i.e. a 35mm on DX is 50mm but 50mm is 50mm on FF. Sorry for not understanding that but am very pleased with your confirming the camera will suit the application.
Stateowned Posted October 13, 2011 Share #4 Posted October 13, 2011 no i mean a nikon 50mm f1.4 AF-s has a minimal focus distance of 0.45meter, the leica 50mm, wether it be f2.8, f2.0 f1.4 or even f0.95 will have a minimal focus distance of 0.70meter but they are both the same focal distance.. jsrockit Posted October 13, 2011 Share #5 Posted October 13, 2011 I think you better learn a little more about the M8 before you buy. It seems like the wrong tool for the job.
fishnbanjo Posted October 13, 2011 Author Share #6 Posted October 13, 2011 Now I got it and that helped tremendously. I unfortunately suffer from Chemo Brain and am on high doses of prednisone which makes my attention wander and will ask for clarification so I can read it a few times to let it sink in. Thanks again. no i mean a nikon 50mm f1.4 AF-s has a minimal focus distance of 0.45meter, the leica 50mm, wether it be f2.8, f2.0 f1.4 or even f0.95 will have a minimal focus distance of 0.70meter but they are both the same focal distance..
