I would like to notify members and thank Red Dot Cameras for an act of kindness by its owners Elaine and Ivor Cooper.

As many will already know, Red Dot Cameras has actively supported the forum for some years to the tune of several thousand pounds per year in advertising revenue that helps to keep use of the forum free for all. As time allows, Red Dot Cameras also attends forum members’ meetings and regularly provides goody bags of Leica products to other attendees for free.

In recent years Red Dot Cameras has also sponsored the Leica One Challenge, which is the forum’s premier challenge and social gathering, by supplying the prizes such as Leica cameras and vouchers. This year, however, I was advised that the One Challenge’s organising committee had chosen to ‘return to basics’ and prizes would not be offered but instead entrants will pay a 10 Euro fee, which will be donated to the Association for International Cancer Research.

In response, Red Dot Cameras has selflessly chosen to set aside the £500 that it would have cost to fund this year’s prizes and donate the £500 to AICR in the forum’s name.

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank Elaine and Ivor for their continued support of the forum, for supplying the prizes in past years but particularly for their act of kindness this year in supporting AICR through their generous donation.

I invite forum members to join me in thanking Red Dot Cameras for its continued generosity.
