mark_goode Posted September 12, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 12, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) A couple of weeks ago I attended a Jimmy Buffet Concert here in the Washington DC area. I brought my Lumix GH1 and my Leica MP (film). While at the concert I had several run ins with the "camera police." If you want to learn more about how my MP saved the evening, go here to ready about my experiences: Capturing Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville with a Rangefinder and an EVIL camera
Advertisement Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Hi mark_goode, Take a look here Jimmy Buffet and the Camera Police. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
hoppyman Posted September 12, 2011 Share #2 Posted September 12, 2011 Mark this kind of arbitrary policy in cameras is not unique to Jimmy Buffett concerts of course. You would think that they would be more concerned with video which can end up as bootleg concerts on-line. None of these regulations will ever keep up with technology anyway so I guess the smart approach is to use those old grandfather cameras when you get a chance. By the way if you fit the Parrothead demographic you only needed a Hawaiian shirt and lobster or sharkfin on your head to blend right in! And of course: "Breathe In Breathe Out and Move On"
mark_goode Posted September 12, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted September 12, 2011 Geoff, You are right . . . this policy's not unique to Buffet and I wonder if he even cares. What makes his concerts so much fun is that he really has a good time and everyone else just kind of chimes in. I suppose a video recording could make for a bootleg concert but then, is it a real concert when you're looking at a video screen? For me anyway, being there is 90% of the fun :-) Anyway, my MP performed well and I had a good time . . . camera police notwithstanding :-)
hoppyman Posted September 12, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 12, 2011 Yep! and in the interests of disclosure I've been a Parrothead for more than 30 years!

earleygallery Posted September 13, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) That's nothing, I was really pissed off when I was asked to leave a photo exhibition recently because I was playing guitar and singing as I went around. honcho Posted September 14, 2011 Share #9 Posted September 14, 2011 I am probably in a minority here, but I had not heard of Jimmy Buffett until this thread appeared so I looked him up on YouTube. I'm now older and wiser. . . . I wish I wasn't.
