Peter H Posted September 9, 2011 Share #2 Â Posted September 9, 2011 Anybody know where to purchase protective caps for the viewfinders of goggled lens (e.g., 35mm lens for M3) or for the M viewfinders? Are there such things? Â My uneducated guess is that they aren't made because there's no need for them. Â But if you search hard enough, you never know what you might find. iliahi Posted September 9, 2011 Author Share #4 Â Posted September 9, 2011 I was hoping there'd be a market for protecting the viewfinders as much as we protect the lenses. I'll see if I can get a shoe repair guy to make some cover or case at reasonable cost.

Goatskin or calfskin will not scratch the glass.
roydonian Posted September 9, 2011 Share #6  Posted September 9, 2011 In the old days, Leitz made custom-cases for small items such as brightline finders and the goggles of the dual-range Summicron. I managed to locate several during the 1990s by keeping a close watch on the second-hand listings of the US dealer KEH.  These days I keep my finders, batteries and other small accessories in small individual press-to-seal plastic bags bought in packs of 50 for a stationary store. Once each is in its own bag, they are distributed among the small pockets of my camera bag. The plastic won’t provide protection from shock, but does prevent scratches and other cosmetic flaws.  For larger accessories such as my SOMKY closeup device, I go browsing among the little padded protective bags sold for devices such as small mobile phones.  Best regards,  Doug
giordano Posted September 9, 2011 Share #7 Â Posted September 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) For finders I use the little soft drawstring bags that jewellers sometimes use for rings and the like.
