Banyantree Posted September 7, 2011 Share #1 Posted September 7, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I just purchased an M9 as a gift for my wife who has been fantasizing about owning one since it came out! It comes with Lightroom software and I was told i can download it to 2 computers. My wife uses a Mac and myself a PC. Will i be allowed to download the software to 2 separate and different computers? hoppyman Posted September 7, 2011 Share #3 Posted September 7, 2011 Yes. However read the EULA (licence agreement) Your serial number will work on copies on two machines. stunsworth Posted September 7, 2011 Share #4 Posted September 7, 2011 For anyone who doesn't have an M9, the standard version of Lightroom works the same way. The disc has Mac and Windows versions of the program, and they share the same key.
01af Posted September 9, 2011 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2011 I just purchased an M9 as a gift for my wife ... Lucky wife! My wife uses a Mac and myself a PC. Will I be allowed to download the software to two separate and different computers? No, you won't, as the two machines belong to and are used by two different persons. If you want to use Lightroom on your own computer then you'll have to purchase your own license.
jaapv Posted September 9, 2011 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2011 Well, technically speaking the poster said use, not own. I think two machines in one household would qualify for the double use of the license according to the rules.
hoppyman Posted September 9, 2011 Share #7 Posted September 9, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here's the relevant portion of the EULA. You can make your own judgements on primary user/owner and whose fingertips are on the keyboard at one time within your household and whether any technical breach of the EULA is committed or whether Adobe may wish to pursue you. 2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. The primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer. Seven computers in my house with all software legally obtained, all of my licences are under the same name for convenience tracking them. I hardly ever fret if another household member should print a document or check their mail from the nearest machine that is running at that time. Send the attack lawyers.
