jaapv Posted September 6, 2011 Share #41 Posted September 6, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Mine is 4004250, and I find it adequately smooth. It does not grab or notch, just slightly heavier, but I can easily focus accurately with one finger on the tab. It is silver, though. I do not know if that has anything to do with it. Advertisement Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Hi jaapv, Take a look here 50 Lux ASPH focus 'feel'. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
diopter Posted September 6, 2011 Share #42 Posted September 6, 2011 When I first got my brand new Summilux 50 ASPH., I thought it was kind of "stiff" for an M lens. But after a month of use, and fondling, it has become somewhat "smoother". But still not as silky or buttery smooth as my 28 cron ASPH.
christakis Posted September 6, 2011 Share #43 Posted September 6, 2011 Mine notched a bit when I first bought it compared to my 35mm Cron ASPH. I even started a thread just like this one asking if it was normal, and after a few replies I decided it was nothing to worry about. Indeed after a month or two of use, everything felt right. Heavy but smooth. A few weeks ago I sent it to Germany for calibration. After getting some TLC, I have the impression it feels slightly smoother but still heavy. On the other hand, it might be because I forgot how it felt in the first place... As others mentioned already, there's nothing you can do about the "heaviness" as you're dragging more elements around.
