On 10th January I left my D2 with Leica, NJ to go back to Solms to have its sensor replaced. They told me it would take four to five weeks, and they certainly were good to their word. I got the camera back today (it seems to have enjoyed its journey), between four and five weeks after leaving it (It actually left NJ for my office on 8th February). It’s clear they also cleaned it as much as possible and included two surprises.

1. My D2 is a fairly old one, bought in early March three years ago. That was before they started including the leather body protectors to be attached to the strap where it connects to the body. They gave me the protectors, along with instructions for how to install them.

2. A new, spare battery. This should be useful in Namibia where we will be without recharging facilities for two or three nights (this is my 4th D2 battery. I should get a third battery for the DMR).
