john_newell Posted December 17, 2011 Share #25 Posted December 17, 2011 Yes! Today. Only 3 months after Panasonic released its version for cousin LX5. Speed kills! Not in this case - there were no issues with Panny's update...

Just download this, unzip it, then add it to your formatted SD card. Make sure it isn't in a folder but separate from the folders showing when you open the SD card on your computer. Drag the unzipped file into the SD card after you have opened the SD card on your screen then eject, put the card into the D-Lux 5 and switch on. Press the playback button as if you were going to look at saved photos and then you'll be able to install the update.
farnz Posted December 17, 2011 Share #30 Posted December 17, 2011 For those who've had time to update for DL5's has anyone spotted any major differences? Pete.

Fang Posted December 18, 2011 Share #32 Posted December 18, 2011 Tried it for at least 5 times before I finally install the new firm ware. Still not able to tell the difference. Just download this, unzip it, then add it to your formatted SD card. Make sure it isn't in a folder but separate from the folders showing when you open the SD card on your computer. Drag the unzipped file into the SD card after you have opened the SD card on your screen then eject, put the card into the D-Lux 5 and switch on. maccarma Posted December 18, 2011 Share #33 Posted December 18, 2011 Best thing I could do (but I agree that installation manual was not very precise) was to put the "bin" unzipped file at the very beginning of the SD card (to be clear, BEFORE the folders). Then it worked. I use mac.

They should insert your directions into the official firmware update procedure rather than the official ones. Answered my questions exactly and installed with no problems. Installed using a Mac also. Paul Reading Posted March 19, 2012 Share #35 Posted March 19, 2012 I love my Panasonic LX5 much more, knowing it has faster autofocus speed than DLUX5, at a much lower pricetag. Lots of Amarone wine for the difference in price. Cheers! Hey we named our first yacht Amarone! When calling marinas no one could spell it!

You're very welcome. I don't have the camera now as I bought an M9 with a 35mm Leica lens. I passed the D-Lux 5 onto my pal do hopefully he'll get as much pleasure out of using the camera. Cheers!
