andybarton Posted November 10, 2011 Share #21 Â Posted November 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) All down to experience and how you've been treated. Â I have had two poor experiences with them (more fool me), so prefer to take my custom elsewhere now.
Advertisement Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Experience with selling through dealer?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted November 10, 2011 Share #22 Â Posted November 10, 2011 Most dealers should be able to sell you something, post it to you if mail order, and if said item is OK the customer is happy. Â The test of how good a dealer is - or any company for that matter - is when you have a problem. Some will try to decline any responsibility/liability or help in any way and some will bend over backwards to put matters right. Â I've never dealt with Ffordes but it would be interesting to know the circumstances fori those who had bad experiences.
shootinglulu Posted November 10, 2011 Share #23 Â Posted November 10, 2011 A positive thumbs up for Ffordes from me, I have experience buying and sellling with them and their new prices are as low as they get I think.
ayewing Posted November 11, 2011 Share #24 Â Posted November 11, 2011 I have no experience of selling via Ffordes but I have bought both new and secondhand items. Their prices are pretty good and the secondhand stuff was as described. Â Despite the shortages of new Leica lenses when I ordered a new Summilux 50mm Asph it arrived within a fortnight. They seemed very efficient with good communication on date of dispatch with tracking numbers. I would certainly be happy to buy from them again. bill Posted November 11, 2011 Share #26 Â Posted November 11, 2011 I ordered a couple of lenses from their website. Put in all my details as you would expect, including delivery address. Came home a few days later and a nice lady from a few doors up came around and asked if I was Bill, and had placed an order with ffordes. Â Turned out her husband, who is also a member of this forum, coincidentally, had ordered from them before. Somehow they managed to dispatch to my name at his address. He had called them already and realised what had happened. I got my parcel through his, and his wife's kindness. Â When I called ffordes to complain their attitude was dismissive to say the least - I'd got my lenses, what was the problem? Complete indifference and not a word of apology. It's one thing to cock up, but it's how you handle it that separates the wheat from the chaff. In my case ffordes had their bacon saved by one of their other customers. Me, I'll never use them again. Â Regards, Â Bill
