Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong place guys, if so can a mod please remove it.

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy some prints (10X8) from Robert Franks' The Americans.

Anyone know where I can buy them if indeed they are for sale.

I'm only looking for relatively inexpensive re-prints BTW not limited editions stuff or signed copies from the photographer. Just the usual stuff that would be for sale during an exhibition for example.

I've had a look on line but don't be able to see anything that suits.

Thanks

Tony

Do you mean the post-card sized prints or something like 8x10"? You could purchase one of his books, the standard Americans or the expanded version and cut out pictures - for your own use of course, not for distribution or profit.

Oh - aside - interesting discussion here.

This works with calendars also. Often the prints are quite good, as these things go. No idea if there are ever calendars of Frank's work - I have seen Adams and HCB calendars often.

Thanks pico,

yeah just 8X10s or something of that nature to stick in a frame for some of the rooms in the house.

I have the Steidl version of The Americans which is available via Amazon for about £15 but the photos are all 8X5 or 7x5 and I also have the Looking In version (£35) in which the photographs are about 8X6 but it does seem a shame to deface one of these books for a couple of prints that are not quite what I want anyway.

Regards,

Tony

Hi Michael,

I've had a trawl through both Amazon.com and American e-bay for posters and prints by Robert Frank but there is virtually nothing that I can see.

Amazing when you consider that those images in The Americans are some of the most iconic images of America in the past 60 years.

There's every thing from Marilyn Munro to the moon landings but nothing by Frank, astonishing.

Tony
