Ronan Posted August 20, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 20, 2011 Sorry to hear It always sucks when you need to sell gear.
bpalme Posted August 20, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 20, 2011 I hope you get to get your gear back soon. Good luck.
NB23 Posted August 20, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 20, 2011 Selling loved gear is always sad. But don't fool yourself! Stick a Black tape over the Logo of your Nikon (or Canon, or Holga) and there you have a Leica again
ho_co Posted August 20, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 20, 2011 I hope things straighten themselves out soon for you, Jan, and look forward to seeing you back.

Jan Sorry to hear this, Jan but having been in your situation before, I can say this - I hung on to my gear for as long as finances would allow and then I realised that by hanging on for grim death I was sending a message to myself that I have no faith in my ability to get another one in the future - like it was going to be my last Leica ever. On realising this, I let go with faith that I would own one again. (one of those items was a Noctliux owned from new and in mint condition - that hurt). 5 years later I purchased the M9 and Summilux 50 - and I had tears in my eyes when I picked it up (I had hit rock bottom, hence sale) - that was my Everest moment. Have faith and good luck!
minks73 Posted August 20, 2011 Share #8 Posted August 20, 2011 At least your timing in terms of lens prices seems to be in your favor. Good luck.
sblitz Posted August 20, 2011 Share #9 Posted August 20, 2011 you can still pock around in this forum, after all you sold the gear not your opinions. and as you probably know, lots of artists are creating great photographs today with a hipstamatic on the iphone or a holga. a leica is wonderful but let's be honest, it is neither necessary or sufficient to create a great photograph. the artist is the crucial element and that, along with your opinions, has not been sold... best of luck to you. steve
Clook Posted August 20, 2011 Share #10 Posted August 20, 2011 Go with the comments above and just keep on keeping on. Like a wise man told me some years ago, "You gotta just keep taking pictures".
KM-25 Posted August 21, 2011 Share #11 Posted August 21, 2011 When I got home from draining my account near dry from a book project ( in link at bottom ) I sold all the fast, pricey glass and two of four M bodies off and put money in the bank until I got biz going again, then replaced it all with not as fast, not as expensive RF stuff, no big deal because.... It will never be the camera as much as it is the photographer....

Yep I will check in now and then. Being retired is why I hit a bump in the road and having to replace my roof on my house 6,000 bucks did not help much. But as they say sometimes " The feces will hit the oscillating turbo blade." And you have to do what you have to do. I am sure I will get one again in a year or so. Cheers to all and thanks.
