ho_co Posted August 26, 2011 Share #21 Posted August 26, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ed, examples in your first and third posts are typical of the M8's green stripe. What you show in the second post isn't. My suggestion is to be aware of the green stripe issue that afflicts all M8's, and to keep an eye out for further recurrences of the effect you show on the vendors' faces in your second post. There may be something wrong with your M8, but it's hard to say before it becomes a repeating problem as it did with jb (see examples in his link in post #13 above). Advertisement Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Hi ho_co, Take a look here Green/black lines in M8 photo. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
edinsiam Posted August 26, 2011 Author Share #22 Posted August 26, 2011 Thanks for the advice, ho_co, but I don't have much time to wait as my warranty has just expired. Leica may be willing to take responsibility now if the camera goes back to Solms with the same problem it just went there for, but I doubt that they will in a couple of months. Problem is that the Italian representatives for Leica do not seem willing to send it to Solms. Do you (or anybody) know anybody at Solms I could email the images to, in order to dtermine whether my camera is worth a check-up? Also, can the typical banding lines get as thick and black as in the very first two photos above? (They are not cropped here.) Cheers, Ed

ho_co Posted August 27, 2011 Share #24 Posted August 27, 2011 ... can the typical banding lines get as thick and black as in the very first two photos above? (They are not cropped here.) Ed, your first two pictures show the standard M8 green stripe. Unless you're having repeatable other problems, there's nothing for which to return the camera to Solms, IMHO. edinsiam Posted September 18, 2011 Author Share #26 Posted September 18, 2011 New lines... pink! Happens sometimes, usually in darker places and at higher ISO's, so I was quite surprised to see them in this image. As usual, diagnosis would be welcome! Cheers, Ed Welcome, dear visitor! jaapv Posted September 18, 2011 Share #27 Posted September 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is a very evident motherboard failure and the camera should be sent in for repair.
edinsiam Posted September 19, 2011 Author Share #28 Posted September 19, 2011 Thank you, Jaapv. No good news, but thank you... Do you or does anybody have the email of somebody in Solms who actually replies emails and who is in power of doing something? Please PM it to me if you do. This camera has been presenting the same issues again and again and has been sent to Solms a number of times without these being recognized or solved. I would therefore like to get in touch directly with somebody who is capable of solving this matter in a way that is decisive. Thank you, Ed
jaapv Posted September 19, 2011 Share #29 Posted September 19, 2011 Names, telephone numbers and emails are on the Leica website.
edinsiam Posted September 19, 2011 Author Share #30 Posted September 19, 2011 I remember contacting the Customer Service as well as a couple of other people from the Leica website a couple of years ago, Jaapv, but they never replied me back. Back then, the issue was resolved only after somebody gave me the email address of a manager, if I remember correctly, in Singapore (I was based in Asia then). This is why I was asking for the email of somebody who actually replies emails and who has the power to do something! Cheers, Ed
jaapv Posted September 19, 2011 Share #31 Posted September 19, 2011 That is a bit surprising, in my experience CS communicates quite good. But in the Skype age nothing prevents you from calling them in person.
edinsiam Posted September 19, 2011 Author Share #32 Posted September 19, 2011 It is not my experience, Jaapv. I remember emailing the CS as well as two other people personally about one or two years ago, but my emails were never replied. Hopefully things have changed then!
