Washington Posted August 17, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) As you guys already know I am a complete sucker for unusual stuff. I just received a Ricoh GXR today with the zoom lens module. This little camera is a design departure as you change lens modules for assorted lenses. They have announced an upcoming module for Leica M lenses. Cool. Now this is a rear-screen only camera. BUT, with assorted hot-shoe external finders…. I’ll betcha it’ll be ducky. As the camera’s hot shoe is about an inch off center from lens center…. I will make a very simple viewfinder offset adapter. More later.
Advertisement Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Hi Washington, Take a look here Ricoh for M Lenses.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jamesk8752 Posted August 17, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2011 Like you, I'm a sucker for new photo gadgetry - I have a GXR M module on order from PopFlash Photo. I'm second in line there so I expect to get my M module as soon as they are released in the US. I have all four of the current modules but use the A12-28 and -50 modules most of the time. They have fine lenses and deliver great IQ, but I miss the 35mm and 75mm focal lengths. I'm excited about soon being able to use my M lenses on the GXR to gain additional range. For size and weight reasons I expect to use my Voigtlander Color-Skopars and Heliars most of the time, but I'll bet my Summilux 50 ASPH will be a killer short telephoto with that 1.5x crop! I think you'll like the GXR; it's very well made and well thought-out, and I find it to be a nice compact carry-everywhere camera. From what I've read, Ricoh did a great job on the M module and its focusing aids, and the high-ISO performance should put my digital M bodies to shame - but we'll see... Washington Posted August 17, 2011 Author Share #3 Posted August 17, 2011 I’m a happy camper with this camera…. and I too have pre-ordered the Leica M module. Picture #1 is how I plan to use various fixed focus M lenses… with a variable finder. Picture #2 was shot at 3200 iso …. it is a Raw with NO processing what-so-ever.
