I am just puzzled by this new lens appearing quite often (of course in relative terms) on the second hand market,

advertised by the sellers as "only used once or twice" etc...why are people selling it almost immediately after getting it?

I am not talking about people/dealers who are selling it for a profit at prices much higher than retail price (I have heard it's hard/almost impossible to find it new from dealers thus the inflated price on the alternative markets) but it appears to be users who don't seem to hang on to it for long after acquiring it.

On the contrary, it's now quite difficult to see the previous version advertised for sale nowadays...any thoughts?

I have been following the second-hand market for this lens for a few months before biting recently. The impression I got was that dealers generally offer the lens at retail or below, and private individuals apply a sometimes considerable markup. Same for the 0.95 Noct which also appears occasionally, used "once or twice". Also the S2 and recently the M9-P. Not sure why. Buyer's remorse? End of trial? All planned ahead?

There are those Leica users that prefer profit to enjoyment of the lens.

There are those who seek to make a quick profit who don't even use Leica.

...and there are those retailers who are opening the lens, putting it on display as a demo, then selling it at way above list price for a huge profit because they are tired of seeing their customers take advantage of the system.....but I won't name names, here.
