maccarma Posted August 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 11, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, i'm an avid Leica collector and I finally afforded myself my first "film" camera! An M6 that I bought through an agreed Leica dealer. On page 13 of the instructions manual, you can see that in the viewfinder you are supposed to see the two red triangles of the exposure meter.... I can't see them... Is my camera (1986) a too "old" model to have this function? Is this just me not able to make it function? Shall it need a Leica revision? Thanks for help!!!! }{B Posted August 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 11, 2011 Have you checked that it has a battery in? The M6 will function without a battery but the meter will not work. Sorry if you have already checked this but you don't mention this in your post.
Rusted Chrome Posted August 11, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 11, 2011 Also the film advance has to be cocked and the shutter partially pressed. At least that's how it works on my M6.
TomB_tx Posted August 11, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 11, 2011 Lens cap off and lens aperture open also - on some versions the LEDs will not light if it is too dark. (The circuit changed over the years.)
aesop Posted August 13, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 13, 2011 ...also ensure that the shutter speed dial is not in the "B" position, as the camera's light meter does not function at this setting.
