Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 10, 2007 Share #1  Posted February 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) I shot a pregnant women tonight which is a good friend of our family and thought I would show the 75 mm lux at work shot at 2.8. I shot these in my garage which is not really long enough to pull the subject away from the background, so i decided to just go for 2.8 which brings down the background nicely. This lens is much sharper than the 80 lux R anyway i was testing a few things here like some new Twinkle lights and the lens . Had a hard time deciding which view I liked but here is a sample.  Hopefully this does not offend anyone. This is something i just don't normally shoot. Anyway have a great weekend folks.  Profile here are Edmunds low sat linear Welcome, dear visitor! Guest stnami Posted February 10, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted February 10, 2007 What's wrong with the photo forum Guy??? A couple here every now and then is ok as we all do but you seem to only use this forum for all your images........
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 10, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Usally when I post images it is more for technical reasons. But this certainly maybe better in the Photo forum . Let the mods. decide
Jager Posted February 10, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Very nice, Guy. Is that muslin or some sort of other studio background you're using? (Is your garage a studio?) Â Jeff

Jamie Roberts Posted February 10, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Guy--looks like the profiles are working really well! Nice work! Â I actually love doing portrait sessions like this. I've done a bunch of these--one even for a OB/GYN who wanted pictures of his wife and child for his office walls, too!
thpeters Posted February 10, 2007 Share #7 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) The look from the eyes of a pregnant woman and some mysterious smile is always beautifull, great shot Guy in Color and in B&W, very decent and I dont think that anybody can be offended with this kind of photography,(my humble thoughts) I am still agree with others this should be in the photo forum. marknorton Posted February 10, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Is that a tatoo on her back?
KJB Posted February 10, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Great shot Guy. My take on the photo vs digital fourm is if there is discussion regarding the capabilities of the camera using a photo then there's no reason for it not to be posted here. If its just a post and critique then the photo forum is best. I believe you are doing the former
FMB Posted February 10, 2007 Share #10 Â Posted February 10, 2007 What's wrong with the photo forum Guy??? A couple here every now and then is ok as we all do but you seem to only use this forum for all your images........ Â Â I dont agree with your comment. Many of us are waiting for the images of Guy Mancuso and others professional photographers linking great images with technical figures, lenses used and their allways appreciated advices. If you think they use the forum to get some "Propaganda". wellcome this propaganda. They will not be rich with this tipe of marketing. Â Come on, Guy. Â Bye, Francisco. kamilsukun Posted February 10, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Guy, Â This is a very good photograph. And exhibits one of the very rare instances which the color marginally beats th B&W. The nature of the image benefits from the color details which make the subject more real. Â One can see a real female in her pure pregnant state. Not pretending or in the search of a style or anything. Pure female. Beautifully pregnant. The smile is...noteworthy (everything is there). Â All enveloped in a very tasteful, very successful photograph. Â This more than a lens test. Â Thank you Guy, thanks for sharing.
sparkie Posted February 10, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted February 10, 2007 great shot guy and agree that the colour version tops the b&w in this instance. keep posting ps where can edmunds profiles by downloaded, many thanks
abrewer Posted February 10, 2007 Share #13  Posted February 10, 2007 Usally when I post images it is more for technical reasons. But this certainly maybe better in the Photo forum . Let the mods. decide  Yeah, let's go with Photo Forum with this one as it's more in tune with the aesthetic than the technical.  I'll move it to the "People" sub-forum for you Guy.  Looking forward to seeing more, too!  Thanks.  Allan
Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 10, 2007 Share #14 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Thanks Allan. I don't normal post in the photo forum but this is fine. For some strange reason I just don't see a need for myself to show my work that often, like someone said there is no finiancial gain for me. Honestly also many of my work is commercial and it is not really proper in my view to show client work from a professional standpoint. It's kinda of weird the way I think about photo forums but that's me so please no one take offense by that. I'm a weird duck on certain things. Â Anyway thanks for the comments , yes Jay is a really pretty lady and a sweetheart to boot. She was astounded on these shots. I love lighting and maybe the best thing i really do. The M8 seems to be working towards being a great camera. i really am in love with this RF stuff, it has it's quarks but if you work at them you can get really nice results. I think many of us shoot Leica because we like to work the camera and be in control. Okay from a technical point of view you guys know me to well and have to tell how I did this . yes there is a muslin in the background and wrinkled so i taped as flat as I could . My hurdle was the garage size. it was hard to get her far enough away so I can get a nice soft background , nothing worse than sharp wrinkles. Â So i used the 75 lux what else right for this type of shot, And at 2.8 or 4 . I used 3 lights that I just got. Folks may want to look into these there not expensive. There called Dynalite Twinkles . There monolights with built in fans 400 watt and 150 watt model and a variable power switch. Did I say they are small . i can get 4 heads and reflectors into a Lowe Pro 2 roller bag which is a pretty small bag. Small camera ,small lights winning combo and you can get a 2 light kit with stands which are o small and two umbrellas in a small bag for 995 dollars . i bought two sets. There is only two things that could be better a bigger model lamp which I think you can do is get a 250 watt and the power switch has not click detents . other than that there great. Â Okay used a 3x4 soft box with louver grid for front light and one hair light using seven inch grid and one of the same for background. This contols all light from bouncing around and keeps stray light off background.

Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 10, 2007 Share #16 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Mark yes it is a tatoo. i kind of like it in there. What I like about this view is her elbows are perfectly lined up to each other
stuny Posted February 10, 2007 Share #17 Â Posted February 10, 2007 Guy - Â Tastefully done, expertly executed. The tattoo at that angle and light almost looks like an angry, dangerous growth. I wonder how much people will appreciate their tattos in years to come when the skin is not as firm or smooth. I guess I'm too much of an old fogey. Guest guy_mancuso Posted February 10, 2007 Share #19  Posted February 10, 2007 I agree , I keep telling my 16 year old daughter the same thing, whatever you put on you can't take off . So when your my age do you really want a Rose pedal or something that makes no sense still on your body. So far it is working , fingers crossed. LOL  Old fogey also. LOL  Here is one more view that I kind of liked also, still need to airbrush a little Welcome, dear visitor!
