Advertisement Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi bpalme, Take a look here M9 and 28 Summicron Asph. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
menos I M6 Posted August 10, 2011 Share #42 Posted August 10, 2011 Everything Leica is extortionately priced.Even more of a bargain with the plummeting US dollar against the Australian;) Mark Mark, I also used the 12466 on the 28 Cron ASPH, after a long time usage of the 35 Lux hood (never used the big fridge). I then proceeded, to foolishly sell the 28 Cron, as it really is a very wide lens on the M9 for me. I see myself, finding a new 28 Cron for me :-(

But how sad, why on earth did you sell the 28 Cron and 12466 Hood)
menos I M6 Posted August 10, 2011 Share #44 Posted August 10, 2011 The 12466 is my favourite hood on the lens. But how sad, why on earth did you sell the 28 Cron and 12466 Hood) It might have been a strange day, when I sold my 28 Cron, but I was still awake enough, to not sell the 12466 along with it. In fact, I bought two 12466, one by mail from the US (great price, lower than anywhere else back then) and one, when I came over a new boxed sample in a local shop, that had cost even less . I still kept the additional 35 Lux hood as well. So I have now in storage one new, never unpacked 12466 and one mint, like new 35 Lux hood. I plan, to keep these, as they will finance a cruise ship holiday, when I retire in 40 years or so I use the second 12466 (which came new in box with the white paint filled dot missing - is this rare?) on my 35 Lux ASPH: On the 28 Cron, it is an even smaller combo, as it sits closer to the camera - much, much better than "the fridge" on the 28. I plan, to buy another 28/2. Only problem with this 12466 is the fiddling, to cap the lens for transport. Anybody knows a nice 46mm front pinch cap, that works well with the 35 Lux ASPH/ 28 Cron ASPH?
bbbonthemoon Posted August 10, 2011 Share #45 Posted August 10, 2011 Well, actually I like the original hood on the 28 cron. I can turn my amera for a second to see what's happening on lower right corner, so no problem with finder blockage, but the hood itself looks very classical and old school to me. BTW, I recevied the lens few day ago and I'm very impressed.
MarkP Posted August 10, 2011 Share #46 Posted August 10, 2011 Good that despite your delerium you kept the 12466 hoods. Perhaps selling one of these rare items may pay towards a new lens now rather than the cruise when you're too old and demented to enjoy it)). The Zeiss pinch lenscap from my 1.5/50 Sonnar fits perfectly and is easily fitted and removed. Regards, Mark
menos I M6 Posted August 10, 2011 Share #47 Posted August 10, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Nice, thanks for the Zeiss tip Mark! Is it true, that 12466 is in fact a limited run of only 500 lens hoods total? I have read about this but found no further proof or reference.
diopter Posted September 9, 2011 Share #48 Posted September 9, 2011 You will have no regrets, I´ve sold my summicron 35 ASPH for the same reason than you, don´t like the look of the pictures (have also a 50 Summilux ASPH) The 28 summicron is a class of it´s own and a better choice. +1 Although I'm happy with the images I got from the 35 cron ASPH, I felt that it was a little close to the 50 lux ASPH that I have. So I decided to keep the 28 cron ASPH for the wider coverage. However, if I had only one lens (which was my case; I had the 35 cron first), I would stick with the 35, it being a versatile and capable jack-of-all-trades.
