Gibbo Posted July 25, 2011 Author Share #1 Posted July 25, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Now, before I start, I have done some searching and failed to come up with an answer so please be kind The lenses of my M2 that are not attached to the camera are held together by a plastic holder/connector. They attach to it in the same way as they attach to the camera body ie insert and twist clockwise until it cannot be twisted any further. This connector is now 53 years old and has worn itself out with use. To the extent that when you twist the lens it no longer comes to a halt but keeps twisting. This means that the lenses have a tendancy to fall out of the connector I have been looking on ebay for some months to try and find one of these items, to no avail. I thought I'd post here to see if anybody might have one that they no longer need? Perhaps someone knows the correct terminology for the item? Gibbo Posted July 25, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted July 25, 2011 Thanks for your prompt reply !Nomad64 !! I'm afraid those links are not the item I have in mind. I am refering to an item that you can attach two lenses to, back to back (in series), effectively it becomes one lens and keeps both lenses nice and tidy in your bag/case. When I get a minute I'll take a photo of the one I have and post it here.

mmradman Posted July 25, 2011 Share #9 Posted July 25, 2011 For M lenses it is called M Lens Coupler. For R lenses it is called R Lens Coupler. You can find these occassionally with secondhand dealers or you can make one by connecting two lens caps back to back.

Robert_M Posted July 25, 2011 Share #13 Posted July 25, 2011 The grey, leica lens coupler for M appear on ebay from time to time. Not particularly low in price. The original design I've seen does not have a separation between the two lenses so that limits the usefulness to always having 2 lenses on the coupler. B&H does sell something similar by an independent lens cap maker. It uses o-ring seals and is nicely built. However, it is larger in diameter. Try looking under lens caps on their web site. Finally, a simple solution which has worked for me with smaller lenses: Buy a few of those generic, dirt cheap rear lens caps. They are available virtually all the time on ebay. Glue two of them back-to-back with epoxy (you only need a few dabs). I use that for putting the compact CV 21mm and CV 25mm lenses together in a compact package that can be "thrown" into my bag. ismon Posted July 25, 2011 Share #15 Posted July 25, 2011 There is a new aftermarket equivalent available from OP/Tech. It's called a lens mount cap (double), and sells at MSRP $17.95. It has the technical improvement of an O/ring to hold each lens snug in place.

bill Posted July 25, 2011 Share #19 Posted July 25, 2011 I have a couple of these couplers (sorry couldn't resist ) and have had them for years. Brilliant. The hole in the middle is great for combining long and short focus lenses (90mm Elmarit M with 35mm CV 2.5 PII for instance). I carry a body cap around with me to make the ring "dust-tight" when I remove one lens. Said body cap has a hole drilled in it and a tripod mount fitted. I occasionally screw my Stringpod into same and fit it to my Lens Carrier M to make a secure, central mount. Regards, Bill
