I searched online coding lenses and found this address...

Leica M Lens Codes

But, ... I can not find an equivalent code for a 35mm lens SUMMICRON year 1972 (serial 2540262). Version IV, ASPH and Summarit not work. Someone has codified this lens? Can be done?

Regards

The only issue could be if the lens mount cannot be hand coded (typically, due to screws along the theorical 6-dots stripe) : if the mount is "clean" you can do a decent hand coding (there are many threads about) with, for instance, the Summicron IV code.

The mount is "clean" (screwless), but I can not encode it as SUMMICRON 35-m v4. I'll keep trying then. Thanks!

You can download M coding lists here in pdf

People saying about that hand coding kit is not a permanent solution.

In the list of Leica does not show my lens. The list I put is more "complete"...

I am demoralized. :(

I've tried setting SUMMICRON 35 / 2 (v4) SUMMICRON 35 / 2 ASPH, 35/1.4 sunnilux, 35/2.5 Summarit and M8 does not detect my lens. So I put the lens clean.

Then, I get another question. How to parameterize my set for this lens? I remove the lens detection or set lens detection with UV / IR?

Regards!

I had little or no luck with coding lenses with ink, which is what I assume you're doing. I finally sent all my lenses out to have them machined and permanently coded. I realize that many people think this is a waste of money, but I wanted the metadata recorded so it was - and still is - worth it to me. If you really want the camera to read the lens, you may either have to have the lens coded or buy one that is already coded.

to be honest I really don't see the need for coding...I have many lenses and ahve been shooting with M8 for a few years.

Never coded any lens....never had any issues.

My widest is 28mm ..no issues IMO.

Don't bother.

Just my opinion

Has anyone used white and black electrical tape to encode lenses?

I think it's "cleaner" than using ink...

Unless applied in some kind of recess on the mount, it will interfere with proper mounting of the lens and/or be hopelessly relocated or destroyed. The flange tolerances are so close on some of my lenses that even black marker is "erased."
